In 1975, Gérard Bertrand, once an Internationally recognised rugby player, discovered his passion for wine. After spending years learning from his father he has been able to elevate the winery to a famed position, becoming one of France's most acclaimed winemakers. His wines regularly scoop top marks from critics and he was awarded Master Winemaker of the Year by the Drinks Business magazine in 2023. Château l’Hospitalet is renowned for its lavish gala dinners and concerts, often considered a wine resort, club and spa all in one. The Bertrand Orange Gold is produced using an ancestral winemaking method where the white grapes are vinified and fermented in whole clusters. This maceration with stalks and skins brings a remarkable orange colour with golden reflections and singular tannins. Discover complex notes of white flowers, candied fruits, and white pepper that pairs beautifully with spicy cuisines such as curry.

Majestic offers free chiller bin* loan for customers purchasing wine from us.

Our bins hold 18-24 bottles of wine or Champagne or 2-3 cases of lager when filled with ice and water. Drinks will be chilled in 30-45 minutes and will be kept cold for several hours, especially if kept in the shade.
We can also sell the ice to go in a chiller bin, or have it arrive separately - simply contact your local store after placing your order.

Bought out of curiosity and this is superb! Great acidity to balance the richness. We drunk it without food but a more refined drinker would definitely consider this to be a great food wine!
