Merlot's soft plummy fruit character is often used to soften Cabernet Sauvignon in red blends, and is also a delicious single varietal wine.
Plush red and black fruit flavours of strawberry, cherry and blackberry form the backbone, overlaid with notes of vanilla and green tobacco leaf. Soft, ripe tannins provide a great sense of volume.
Aromas of fruitcake and spice, with red and black fruits on the textured palate and the oak-ageing lending hints of cigar box. A balanced structure and good length. Goes extremely well with beef.
