An irresistible example of Iberia’s most significant white grape variety, Albariño. With their vineyards located in an inland southern sub-zone of Rías Baixas, Legado del Conde’s wines are richer and more overtly fruity than those made by the coast. Yet this still has plenty of racy acidity and elegance to keep it tasting refreshing.

About the producer
Pedro Estévez is widely considered to be the best maker of white wines in Galicia, if not all of Spain. He works with the Méndez family, who own the Adegas Morgadío estate, to craft this sublime Albariño from vines which are typically 40 years old. They were planted before Rías Baixas DO even came into existence.

About the region
Set on the cool Atlantic coast of Galicia, Rías Baixas is a relatively lush wine region, with vineyard slopes often cloaked in rolling ocean mist and dampened by frequent rainfall. Plenty of sunshine ensures that Albariño still thrives, however. In fact, the grape currently makes up about 96% of all regional plantings.

Food Pairing
Enjoy this wine with Chicory & Brussel Sprout Gratin Topped with Crispy Bacon. A saline note in the wine complements the bacon, while herbal flavours work nicely with the vegatal elements of the dish.
