This special Scotch is a limited edition collaboration with the actor Willem Dafoe. Dafoe worked directly with Senior Whisky Blender Sarah Dowling to select the final cut. Initially matured in American oak ex-Bourbon casks, then finished in hand-selected Oloroso Sherry casks, it perfectly blends Laphroaig’s coastal heritage with a rich, cinematic complexity.

The distillery is perched on the shore of the island of Islay, exposed to all the elements the Hebridean Sea can throw at it, and the rich peatland they’ve been infusing into their whisky for over 200 years is right beside it. It’s said that the art of distillation in Islay heritage was first brought to the island by Irish monks. Being a remote island on the far edge of the Scottish whisky map, this art flourished in the hands of the natives, even when it wasn’t exactly legal. When the law was finally relaxed, it gave whisky makers the chance to set up distilleries completely above board – including the brothers who founded Laphroaig’s distillery on the island’s south coast in 1815. Having shaped Scotch history ever since, becoming the only Scotch awarded a Royal Warrant, Laphroaig continues to create unique releases.
