Weingut Kopp Pinot Noir

Weingut Kopp | Germany

Weingut Kopp Pinot Noir | Wine Club by Majestic

Germany refers to world-beloved Pinot Noir as ‘Spätburgunder’. The Baden region excels at the delicate red grape variety, and this example shows exactly how to give Burgundy a run for its money. Juicy aromas of redcurrant and sour cherry waft from the glass, leading to fruit and herbal flavours and a light finish.

About the producer
Practising holistic viticulture since the winery was founded in 1996, Kopp have always been focused on Burgundian grape varieties, dedicating their 32 hectares to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. They encourage biodiversity on site by breeding Highland cattle and putting soil and plants at the centre of their work. From 2022 the vintages are certified biodynamic.

About the region
Tucked between the Black Forest and the Rhine, Baden is the southernmost wine region in Germany. With more plentiful sunshine for ripening red grapes, it’s the country’s most significant producer of Pinot Noir. Kopp is located to the south-east of spa town Baden-Baden, in the village of Ebenung.

Food Pairing
Enjoy this wine with Roast Duck Breast with Spiced Red Cabbage & Roasted Walnuts. The savoury flavours of the Pinot complement the gamey flavours of the duck, while its high acidity helps to cut through the fattiness of the meat.
