Old Vineyard Riesling

To call this supremely elegant wine ‘New World’ doesn’t quite fit the bill. It’s made from the oldest productive Riesling vineyard, not only in Argentina, but in all of South America, planted way back in 1937. Its citrusy aromas harmoniously mingle with notes of tropical fruit, white peach and minerals. You won’t forget it in a hurry.

About the producer
Humberto Canale have always been trailblazers. Founded in 1909, it was the first winery in Patagonia and also the first in the area to achieve a sustainable certification. It is still owned and managed by the fifth-generation descendants of Humberto Canale today.

About the region
The most southerly wine region in South America, Rio Negro in Patagonia partly owes its existence to Humberto Canale, who was asked by the Argentinian president to develop irrigation channels throughout the desert region in the early 1900s. Rio Negro excels at cool climate grape varieties such as Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc – and at Riesling too, as this wine expertly shows.

Food Pairing
Enjoy this wine with Grilled Mackerel with Smoked Celeriac Remoulade & Quick Pickled Cucumber. Notes of lemon and lime are a delicious complement to the fish, while plenty of fresh acidity cuts through the oily richness.
