'Polar' Merlot Bordeaux Rouge

This light and fruity red shows that even the most traditional of regions – Bordeaux – can think outside the box and have a little fun along the way. An expressive nose of strawberry and currant leads to fresh and generous flavours. Unlike some Bordeaux reds which require long ageing, this one is drinking brilliantly now – so waste no time in cracking it open.

About the producer
Jules Lebègue have been leaders in the Bordeaux wine trade since 1828. Now led by oenologist Elodie Bonnot, their watchwords are drinkability, freshness and fruitiness. Far from the clichés of Bordeaux, they craft wines that are approachable for drinkers and are ready to enjoy now – not in decades down the line.

About the region
The grapes for Polar Merlot are grown on clay-limestone soils, mainly located in the northern Blaye area of the Gironde. Vineyards are cultivated with respect for the terroir, with each parcel receiving exactly the care it needs to maintain vine vigour. To keep the wines tasting fresh and to limit tannins, the Merlot is harvested earlier than other red varietals.
