Château Méaume is owned by British couple, Alan and Sue Johnson-Hill, who were guests at the opening of the first ever Majestic store in 1980. The estate’s impressive bottlings have been stocked on our shelves ever since. Today, the winemaking is in the hands of Alan and Sue’s son, Mark, along with his wife Sandra. Together they uphold the family tradition of respecting land and vine, keeping sustainability at the heart of production. This bottling is a much-loved staple amongst our award-winning range. Bordeaux wines labelled ‘Supérieur’ are a step up from your average bottle. They’re made with grapes from lower-yielding vines and must be aged in oak for at least a year, bringing you more complexity and intensity of flavour. Expect notes of rich, dark plum and blackberry, with hints of cedar spice. It's structured yet elegant, making it a wonderful choice for everything from roasted meats, cheese and charcuterie boards, to cosy fireside sipping. Majestic offers free chiller bin* loan for customers purchasing wine from us.

Our bins hold 18-24 bottles of wine or Champagne or 2-3 cases of lager when filled with ice and water. Drinks will be chilled in 30-45 minutes and will be kept cold for several hours, especially if kept in the shade.
We can also sell the ice to go in a chiller bin, or have it arrive separately - simply contact your local store after placing your order.

I have bought the 2020 vintage in the past and that is/was a superb wine. More recently I had a bottle of the 2021 vintage and that was disappointing but still a nice wine. Yesterday I had the 2022 vintage and quite frankly it is not worth the £10, poor!

You can't get much better wine for £9.99. Château Méaume punches way beyond its weight class and is comparable to St Emilion wines with a much much higher price tag. Critics consistently scoring the wine at 90+ know what they are talking about. It's my favourite 'go to' wine and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a very high quality classic right bank Bordeaux. It never disappoints.

I normally drink Chilean or Argentina wine. Tried this one from France. Not impressed. Did some research and it's British owned. As a Brit, I'm sorry but your wine is not worth at £10+ price tag. It's perfectly drinkable but not worth it.

Amazing value for money, shows medium tannins with notes of cassis. Isn't overoaked, not sweet and not bitter. Amazing entry level bordeaux.

After using an aerator, a hint of sourness at the end which fades away quickly. However, it needs to be finished in a specific time window or else the finish feels rather tart.

Reliably good. One of our house wines. Frankly a smooth fruity Bordeaux with a nice nose for a tenner is pretty great. Try Fontesteau 2014 if its cheaper as there's not a lot to divide them. This is a real bargain on offer.
