Toast-Worthy Champagne for the New Year

With all the excitement of Christmas it’s easy to forget pre planning for New Year’s festivities but this fantastic list is the perfect helping hand to get you started. Whether you’re hosting or heading out these sparkling options will have you prepared so that you can sit back and enjoy the festivities.

New Year’s Eve is synonymous with celebration, and no festivity feels complete without Champagne. As the clock strikes midnight, raising a glass of fizz is the perfect way to welcome the new year with style. Whether you're hosting an intimate gathering or a large soirée, the Champagne you choose can set the tone for the evening. Your selection will naturally depend on your guest list and budget, but even a single bottle can create a festive atmosphere.

Laurent-Perrier Classics

Originally founded in 1812, the House of Laurent-Perrier has been defined by its pioneering role in innovating champagne throughout its history and today it is internationally renowned. They continue to produce outstanding vintages and accept only the best of the best, so if you’re after the pinnacle of luxurious sparkling this is where you’ll find it.

First created in 1968, the Laurent-Perrier 'Cuvée Rosé' Champagne is made purely with Pinot Noir from some of the Champagne region’s finest crus and it’s a must try for any Rosé Champagne lover. After harvesting, the grapes are macerated in their own juice for up to 72 hours – a process that Laurent-Perrier has mastered in order to produce this benchmark fizz.

Their Heritage Champagne is equally impressive, made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it comprises a blend of several vintages from the best crus in Champagne. The stunning expression listed below was made exclusively with reserve wines and retains a lovely fresh elegance.

Alternatively fans of their non-vintage cuvée will want to try this new and improved recipe. The winemaking team recently tore up the old one to make way for new improvements. The old wine was already one of the best-selling champagnes in the world but they knew they could create something better. This uniquely fresh fizz doesn’t disappoint, made predominantly from Chardonnay and remaining a popular choice for discerning champagne fans.

Finally, not to be overlooked, is their signature champagne, so called as it is crafted using the purest grape juice obtained during the gentle first pressing. La Cuvée defines the House style and serves as an ideal introduction to their wines with its characteristic lightness, freshness and elegance.

Favourites from our Buyer’s

A celebratory classic is the Pol Roger Champagne. Established in 1849, is celebrated for its graceful complexity. Winston Churchill, a devoted admirer, inspired the creation of the Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill, created to embody his taste for full-bodied Champagne. Now in the hands of the fifth and sixth generations, Pol Roger maintains its independence and strong family values. Renowned for its purity of fruit and famously fine bubbles, the house has been producing exceptional Champagne for nearly two centuries.

Moët & Chandon has the largest estate in Champagne, featuring cellars connected by 28km of underground tunnels. With such a rich heritage, it's no wonder their wines are regarded as some of the region's finest. The Moët & Chandon 'Rosé Impérial' Champagne is a fantastic celebratory crowdpleaser. This opulent pink Champagne is made predominantly from Pinot Noir, giving it a vibrant, fruity character and it promises expressive flavours of red berries, peach and subtle spice.

Another great option is the Moët & Chandon 'Grand Vintage', a luxurious choice considering they have released fewer than 80 Grand Vintages in their history. It’s elegant and textured with flavours of stone fruits, grapefruit, pastry, walnut and biscuit.

If you’re a fan of rosé, a relatively recent addition to our Veuve Clicquot range is their Rosé Champagne, a medium bodied rosé reminiscent of the power and finesse of the non-vintage label, with a soft red-fruit core. Match with smoked salmon or strawberries and cream for optimum enjoyment.

If you’re looking for an opulent treat or a beautiful gift, Ruinart’s Blanc de Blancs new ‘second skin’ is a must try. An alternative to a gift box, it is an eco-friendly innovation that reduces the bottle’s packaging carbon footprint by 60%. The paper case, moulded to the shape of the bottle, is entirely recyclable and designed to mimic the region's historic crayères cellars. As for what’s inside the bottle? The same top-quality Blanc des Blanc Champagne that Ruinart is famous for.

For a bit of extra hosting finesse, pair your Champagne with canapés or mini desserts, and toast to the year ahead! After all, the right bottle of bubbly can turn a simple moment into a truly unforgettable memory.
