Bodegas Roda is one of Rioja's forward-thinking producers. They began just over 30 years ago and aim to show the modern face of the region. As a result, they're quickly gaining plenty of fans. They age this Reserva in French, as opposed to American, oak. This gives a much more subtle oak influence to the wine. Think well-integrated chocolate and tobacco that join hints of black fruit and plum. Try it with a roast dinner.

Big bold Rioja, a more modern style. Have got a dozen in my cellar because I absolutely love this wine.

This was wonderful. Dense, well-rounded fruit with a sweetness that is not cloying. Very pleasant and easy to drink - surely a broad appeal crowd-pleaser. Not every wine has to be super complex to be enjoyed! This or Prado Enea at this price point.

I've been enjoying Red Wine for over 30 years now and when a friend urged me to try this I was excited. I'm sorry but paying £224.96 for a case of 6 of these (that was the DISCOUNTED PRICE) is daylight robbery! No depth, no character . . . DISGRACEFUL!

Ordered the 2013 but the 2015 arrived instead and I chose to keep it as it sells for a similar price and 2015 was a slightly better vintage. Pretty standard Rioja flavours but too acidic and a generally disappointing experience for a wine of this price.

Roda is back! I loved the 04 and 05 and drank cases of it. The 06 and 07 disappointed me as light

I'm an ardent lover of all things Rioja and this one, in my opinion, is the single best Reserva you can get. Black fruit, deep oak, dry yet well-rounded, this is an elegant wine indeed. I was fortunate to be given a tour of the Roda winery two years ago (on the outskirts of Haro) and their attitude towards making wine of the highest quality struck me as commendable. Cheap it is not, but worth it is!

Roda is back! I loved the 04 and 05 and drank cases of it. The 06 and 07 disappointed me as light, green and missing the Roda punch. Then pow is here in the 08 full of nose and powerful fruit with a full finish just like the Rodas of old. Will get much more of this for sure. A great example of a modern smooth powerful Rioja - welcome home Roda 1 :0) not quite as good as 04/05 but still a 5 star wine.
