It's made from 30-year-old vines and aged for three years in oak. This brings you an indulgently rich Reserva with plenty of ripe fruit flavour and silk-smooth tannins. It has notes of red fruits, vanilla, liquorice and cinnamon. Perfect with roast chicken and lamb.

94/100, you really should try this wine, rather than read my inane ramblings.Coffee and oak on the nose. Palate of raspberry, damson, plum and blackcurrant. Long finish of oak and leather. Vibrant acidity and integrated tannins.I will definitely be getting more bottles of this one.

Delicious, smooth and very quaffable. Lighter blend than it’s mature cousin but still with beautiful complex and long finish. Perfect with rich meals but also drinkable on its own. This is definitely my go to.

Just to be clear - I am reviewing the 2016 Reserva - and it is terrific! Finally a Rioja that has retained its character as the quality has improved. This for me is a benchmark Rioja. Can the quality can be kept up over later vintages. Hope so.

I retract the review above! It seems my wine order was mis-picked and I was delivered the 2013 Vina Alarde in error, obviously a very different wine at a very different price! Majestic have corrected their error and I am confident I'll enjoy the Ardanza!

Maybe it was my taste buds but two bottles of this(bought about a month apart but with same year marking I think) were a bit different. One was good and the other, which we drank on Christmas Day, was the best wine I had in 2022. Extremely nice and a wow.
