We couldn’t give you a South African wine case and not include a Pinotage. If you have any preconceptions about the country’s signature red grape variety, this one might surprise you – in a very good way. In 2019 the highly respected Wine Enthusiast magazine named it a ‘best buy’.

MAN Family Vineyards was set up by three young winemakers – including two brothers – to make excellent wines at an everyday price point. They put the quality of their fruit at the forefront and are in partnership with some of the most experienced grape farmers in the country.

This is South Africa’s winemaking heartland, the Western Cape. Set just out of Cape Town and home to famous districts like Stellenbosh and Franschhoek, it grows just about everything, including signature South African red grape Pinotage. You’ve never too far from mountain or sea here, and there’s a huge range of soil types and microclimates, which explains the diversity.
