The ultimate introduction to South Africa’s most celebrated white grape, Chenin Blanc. This wine has scooped up awards left and right, including a gold medal at the country’s Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards. Expect juicy tropical fruit aromas and zingy flavours of kiwi, guava and white pear. A natural apéritif, though it’s equally dreamy with sushi or pasta.

Established in 1941, Perdeberg has a deep connection to Paarl, part of the Coastal Region. The winery is even named after the herds of mountain zebras which once roamed the foothills of the Paardeberg Mountain. They’ve spent the last 80 years making the best wines they can, primarily from un-irrigated dry-land vineyards. Four different micro-climates on site allow for a broad range of grape varieties to be grown.

The early Dutch settlers were obviously onto something when they named this area – Paarl means ‘pearl’. The pocket in which Perdeberg is perched is especially lauded for its Chenin Blanc production, and the grape does as well here as on its Loire Valley home turf. It’s helped along by the right soils and hot, dry summers.
