Graves Sableuses' Quincy

Domaine des Brosses | France

Majestic

If you love Sancerre, you’ll love this – it’s made just down the road. As good as an apéritif as it is with food, this crisp and aromatic Sauvignon Blanc has aromas of white flowers and herbs. High acidity and a classic Quincy underpinning of minerality makes it endlessly refreshing.

About the producer
Domaine des Brosses was established in 1875. But it was in the 1970s, when the Girard family took the reins, that the winery and its 11 hectares of vineyards were modernised. Nicolas Girard is obsessed with Sauvignon Blanc – he has travelled the world finding the best and honing his winemaking techniques. The dedication shows with his complex, aromatic bottlings.

About the region
You might not be familiar with the Quincy name, but it’s long established. In fact, this is the second oldest denomination in France after Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Set on the Cher River (a small tributary to the mighty Loire), it's only a stone's throw from well-known Sancerre and Menetou-Salon; but it flies comparatively under the radar, so you can find great value. Domaine des Brosses vineyards have chalky soils on an east-facing plateau that allow grapes to retain high acidity.

Food and Wine Pairings
Pair this wine with Claire Thomson’s Mushrooms à la Grecque RecipeFloral notes, zesty citrus, plus crisp green apple flavours make this a great choice for the mushrooms. The flavour of lemon aligns perfectly in both wine and dish.
