Spain’s most famous red grape – Tempranillo – from its most famous region, Rioja. This young wine shows off plenty of the variety’s typical character, with intense blackberry, cassis and raspberry wafting from the glass. When you take a sip, it’s incredibly smooth, with a rounded body and long finish. In a word: delicious.

About the producer
Viña Bujanda aims to honour the original viticultural intent of the founders’ great-grandfather, Joaquín Martínez Bujanda. They nourish their vines with organic matter and use a mix of traditional and modern techniques to help parcels thrive. Technical director Lauren Rosillo supervises 700 hectares of vineyards across Spain for the Martínez Bujanda family to create honest wines that reflect their terroir.

About the region
Viña Bujanda’s 127 hectares of Tempranillo are spread over 28 different plots, and its vines range in age from 20 to 70 years old. With plantings in two of Rioja’s subregions – Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta – they can select from a diversity of terroirs and profiles when crafting their wines. Many vines are rooted in chalk-clay soils, ideal for making age-worthy bottlings. Others are on iron-clay, providing freshness and minerality.
