Philippe de Guerois Pinot Noir

Philippe de Guerois | France

Majestic

Few red grapes can match the complexity and diversity of Pinot Noir. This example is crafted with grapes from the Touraine region of the Loire Valley, plus a small percentage from the south of France. The result is bright and juicy, with lots of crunchy berry-fruit flavours and a grippy finish. Gentle oak treatment gives a smooth character to the wine.

About the producer
Owner of the largest vineyard holdings in Touraine, Pierre Chainier was founded in 1973 as a Loire specialist. They own eight estates in the area, including Domaine de la Bruyère in newly established appellation Touraine-Chenonceaux and Clos de Nouys in Vouvray. Thanks to a mix of expertise and passionate attention, they’ve won awards for their wines all over the world.

About the region
A diversity of soils and microclimates in the Touraine region means that the area can produce an incredible range of wines. The Pinot Noir grapes for this bottling are grown mainly on limestone soils in the cooler east of the region. They’re mixed with grapes sourced from the warmer south of France to add weight and richness, then finished with some oak ageing.
