This off-dry Riesling illustrates Germany’s supreme mastery of the grape. Crisp acidity cuts through a slight sweetness, while nuances of peach, apricot, apple and pear mingle with hints of spice and pineapple. Lively, crisp and medium-bodied, it’s delicious now but could be aged for another five to 10 years. Not that you’ll be able to resist that long…

About the producer
You can’t talk about modern German Riesling without talking about Johannes Leitz, a widely known ambassador of the grape and former Gault & Millau Winemaker of the Year. And his talents are part of a long tradition. The Leitz family has been in viticulture since 1744, and before Johannes took over in 1985 his mother ran the operation over a modest two-and-a-half hectares.

About the region
Harvested from vineyards in central and eastern Rheingau – around the cities of Oestrich-Winkel, Hattenheim and Erbach – the grapes for this wine were cultivated in soils of loess loam, marl and gravel. The soils are capable of excellent water retention, so even in hot years vines can thrive.

Enjoy this wine with Sesame-Crusted Pollock with Smashed Honey-Glazed Parsnips & Bread Sauce. The sweetness of the honeyed parsnips are a great match for the wine's fruity flavours.
