'Moulin de Gassac' Syrah

An enticing Syrah, not from the Rhône but further south in the Languedoc. Full of juicy red fruit flavour, it comes from an estate that’s been farmed in a traditional way for hundreds of years. It’s been vinified in a traditional way too, respecting the character that comes from the local terroir – including 3,000 hectares of protected biodiverse forest.

About the producer
In the 1970s, Parisian glove manufacturer Aimé Guibert traded in his old life and purchased property at the bottom of a valley. Encouraged by a Bordeaux oenologist, he planted grapes. Today the family estate has 52 small vineyard plots and cultivates more than 40 different grape varieties, including rare types from countries like Israel and Switzerland.

About the region
This may be the south of France, but the deep valley location of the Guibert family’s vineyards draws cool air down from the mountains, creating a broad daily temperature swing that allows for a host of grape varieties to thrive. The thick garrigue scrub and glacial, mineral-rich earth also plays a part in shaping character.

Enjoy this wine with Porchetta with Chimichurri & Roast Potatoes. The wine's robust, fruity flavours make the heat of the chilli less intense, while its notes of pepper and spice balance the overall richness of the dish.
