This blend of classic Bordeaux white grapes – Muscadelle, Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc – is fine and elegant, with aromas of white flowers and flavours of peach and apricot. It’s fresh at the outset, then evolves into a rich, harmonious profile – the best of both worlds. A reminder that Bordeaux does white wine every bit as well as red.

About the producer
Owned and managed by the Despagne family, Château de Cathalogne has been a family-owned winery for two generations. It’s now headed up by brother and sister duo Vincent and Sophie Despagne. Winemaker Vincent has worked in Australia and (unconventionally for hyper-traditional Bordeaux) takes a lot of his inspiration from New World winemaking.

About the region
Château de Cathalogne’s grapes are grown in the Entre-Deux-Mers region between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, where vines are less exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations. On the clay, sand and silt soils Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet thrive, as does this Sauvignon Blanc.

Food Pairing
Enjoy this wine with Sesame-Crusted Pollock with Smashed Honey-Glazed Parsnips & Bread Sauce. The crisp and zesty flavours of the wine are an excellent complement to the fish and subtle nuttiness from the sesame seeds.
