The most classic of blended red wines, from the esteemed Médoc of Bordeaux. Merlot brings roundness and ripeness, Cabernet Sauvignon lends elegance, and dashes of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc bring it all together. The aromatics are complex, with dark bramble fruit, cedarwood, liquorice and tobacco; the flavours are rich and round, with nicely balanced acidity. Totally irresistible.

About the producer
Château Campillot is a collaboration between two long-time friends in the wine business, Jean-Dominique Videau – winemaker at fourth growth Château Branaire-Ducru – and Tristan Roze des Ordons. Having taken over the small nine-hectare estate in 2005, they work with traditional methods while still aiming to learn from new techniques.

About the region
Is there any wine region more lauded than Bordeaux, home to some of the world’s most coveted labels? Merlot plays an important part in the Médoc, where the clay-prominent soils allow it to thrive. Campillot’s Merlot is planted in high densities on a mix of clay and clay-limestone soils, while its Cabernet Sauvignon is set on sand and gravel.
