About the producer

Hewitson have worked hard to decrease their environmental footprint, running the winery entirely on solar energy and recycling all the water used in cleaning and washing. Owner Dean Hewitson, who worked in France and the US before opening his eponymous winery in 1998, also encourages biodiversity to thrive throughout his vineyards.

About the region

The Barossa is synonymous with top-quality Shiraz. However, thanks to a complex range of valleys, hills and vineyard aspects, other varieties including Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon excel too. Dean Hewitson makes the most of the ancient vines around him – some of the oldest in the world – taking cuttings to preserve historic clones for future generations.
