Everything you Need to Know about Roederer Champagne

Roederer is the toast of the town of Reims at the moment, celebrating their 250th anniversary. As one of the last independent, family-owned grande marque Champagne houses, Roederer’s visionary heritage has always prioritised quality over compromise.
Roederer stands out with its ownership of over 240 hectares of vines across Champagne’s most prestigious sites. This spectacular estate – now the region’s largest biodynamic grower – gives legendary Cellar Master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon total control from soil to glass, allowing him to nurture individual parcels and craft multi-vintage cuvées using an exceptional perpetual reserve system.

This year also marks the 150th anniversary of Cristal, the world’s first prestige cuvée. Created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II of Russia, its iconic, flat-bottomed clear crystal bottle was uniquely designed to foil assassination plots as an explosive device could not be hidden underneath the punt-less bottle. Today, Cristal remains the ultimate global icon of luxury.

Louis Roederer 'Collection' Brut Champagne

The multi-award-winning ‘Collection’ Brut represents a thrilling evolution in modern blending, famously crowned World Champion Classic Non-Vintage Brut at the 2021 Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships. Richly structured yet brilliantly fresh, it seamlessly balances aged wine reserves with incredible energy. The palate unfolds with white blossom, juicy stone fruits, and honeycomb, framed by a luxurious, buttery pastry finish.

Louis Roederer 'Cristal' Champagne 2015/16

A true icon wine, Cristal is only made in exceptional years from seven low-yielding Grand Cru vineyards. A precise blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, just under a third was fermented in oak before extensive ageing on lees to develop a high level of complexity. Upon the first sip, a rich, velvety mousse carries deep, complex layers of ripe citrus, golden apple, and toasted almond pastry. It finishes with an incredibly long, elegant crescendo of saline, chalky freshness that lingers beautifully. 2016 was a classic vintage with the grapes developing great intensity and depth of fruit.
