'Spice Trader' Shiraz | Wine Club by Majestic

It’s the flagship wine of Australia: Shiraz. But rather than hailing from the famous Barossa, this one comes from legendary winemaker Ben Glaetzer in the little-known South Australian wine region of Langhorne Creek. Harvested from vines aged 25 years and over, the grapes produce a wine with aromas of fresh blackberries and blueberries. Flavours of dark fruit and sweet spice linger with every sip.


About the producer
Heartland know what they are good at, and that’s red wine. It’s all they make in the Langhorne Creek region, in a vineyard fringed with indigenous trees and grasses and dotted with goats who keep the weeds at bay naturally. It’s a labour of love from Ben Glaezter and his partners, industry veterans Scott Collett, Grant Tilbrook and Nick Keukenmeester.

About the region
Under the stewardship of Ben Glaetzer and his colleagues, once-unknown Langhorne Creek has developed into one of the most exciting viticultural regions of South Australia. Winds blowing in from the Southern Ocean reduce daytime temperature fluctuations and temper the intense sunshine. The soils are deep, alluvial sandy loams irrigated by the Bremer River, which is deliberately diverted to flood the land each winter.
