A brilliant taster of Greece’s most famous red varietal – and made in collaboration with one of the nation’s star winemakers, Leonidas Nassiakos, too. While vineyard altitudes are high, the winery is set right in the north-west tip of the sultry Peloponnese by the beach-flecked coast. A pretty epic setting indeed.

After taking over the family business in 2006, George Kintonis set about modernising the Kintonis Winery operation, introducing a new winemaking facility with high-tech add-ons. But ultimately the philosophy has still been to reflect what’s happening in the vineyard, letting each grape variety’s fruit flavours shine.

The Peloponnese has become Greece’s viticulture superstar, turning out the majority of the country’s quality wines across a varied terrain. Most vineyards are set at altitude, by the mountain massifs. Besides red Agiorgitiko, the region also makes good Assyrtiko, perhaps Greece’s best-known white variety.
