What’s on Taste This Week On Our Tasting Counter. Drop in and try

Caveau de Jacobins Crémant du Jura
£12.99 Mix Six
£17.99 Single Bottle
Love Champagne but not the price tag? Try Crémant du Jura. Jura is considered an up-and-coming region in the wine world, and Caveau de Jacobins have been making wine there for over 100 years — their cellar is located in a unique 13th century Jacobin church. It’s safe to say that they’ve perfected their version of the region’s signature sparkling wine. The base wine is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and it's fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve its aromatics. Add 12 months on texture-imparting lees, and you’ve got a brilliant recipe for fine crémant. Expect delicate bubbles and notes of lemon zest, dried apricot and brioche.
Edna Valley Chardonnay 2018/19, Central Coast
£9.99 Mix Six
£15.99 Single Bottle
Edna Valley's vineyards are just a stone’s throw from the Californian coast, an area that's famous for its top-quality Chardonnay. You'll find big names like Napa and Sonoma nearby, but Edna Valley Vineyard choose to work within lesser-known wine regions instead – meaning they're where to go for quality and value. White peach. Apricot. Melon. The flavours are seriously ripe, but it’s still deliciously crisp and refreshing. A touch of oak adds a rich roundness and subtle spice, making it a perfect match for buttery pumpkin ravioli.
Agrillae Orvieto Superiore, Umbria
£6.49 mix Six

£9.99 Single Bottle
If you choose right, Orvieto is Italy's hidden gem. It's a wine style that's, rather confusingly, made close to a city that's also called Orvieto. This one is particularly special. It has previously won Gambero Rosso's prestigious value for money award twice. Fresh and dry, it has intense notes of citrus and tropical fruit.
Marcelo Pelleriti Malbec 2020, Mendoza
£9.99 Mix Six
£12.99 Single Bottle
Marcelo Pelleriti was the first Argentinian winemaker to receive 100 points from legendary wine critic Robert Parker when he worked at Château La Violette in Pomerol. He has since brought his talent back to Mendoza, where he made this stunning Malbec exclusively for Majestic customers. It's rich and intense with plum, dried fruit and spicy oak notes, all balanced by fresh acidity on the long finish. Partner with slow-roasted pork.

Fable Mountain 'The Raptor Post' Red 2017, South Africa
£6.49 Mix Six
£12.99 Single Bottle

In the rugged slopes of the Witzenberg Mountain range, you'll find leopards hiding, jackal buzzards circling and baboons playing. You'll also bump into Tremayne Smith, who produces excellent Rhône blends in the South African sun. This is a clear, bright red wine, with armas of plum, dried strawberry, black pepper and tobacco. Tim Atkin MW gave it 91 points.

What’s on Taste this weekend at Weston:

Domaine Berthenet 'Les Bonneveaux' Montagny Premier Cru 2017
£22.99 Mix Six
£32.99 Single Bottle
Domaine Berthenet want only the best. So they've picked Francois Berthenet, Guide Hachette's Winemaker of the Year 2020, as their winemaker. Needless to say, you can expect big things from this wine. It has complex and rich flavours of ripe fruits, pear, peach and hazelnuts. Enjoy lightly chilled with a strong cheese, like Gruyere or Gouda.

Chateau De Crezancy 2019/20
£14.99 Mix Six
£16.99 Single Bottle
This is a beautiful expression of crisp citrus and peach flavours heightened by floral notes and balanced by a fine mineral finish.

Famille Hugel ‘Classic’ Riesling 2019
£17.99 mix Six
£19.99 Single Bottle
Hugel are one of the wine dynasties of Alsace, established in 1639. Today the 12th and 13th generation of the family continue to produce exceptional Riesling. And plenty of attention to detail goes into making it. Grapes are hand-harvested from vines averaging 35 years old – adding complexity – and plans to become certified organic are underway. This elegant bottling couldn’t be more typical Alsace, with its aromas of apple, pear and citrus. With that underlying minerality and vibrant acidity, wines also don’t get much more food-friendly. Try it with sea bass ceviche or traditional pâté en croûte.
BenMarco Malbec 2020
£12.99 Mix Six
£14.99 Single Bottle
BenMarco is made in the Uco Valley, one of the finest spots in Mendoza, under the watchful eye of Susana Balbo. Susana was the first woman in Argentina to graduate with a degree in winemaking and was president of Wines of Argentina no less than three times. So you know you're in for something excellent. It’s ripe, juicy and seriously concentrated. Packed with flavours of blackberry and oaky vanilla spice. Perfect with steak.

Bread and Butter Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
£11.99 Mix Six
£15.99 Single Bottle
California is where you’ll find some of the world’s most coveted Cabernet Sauvignon. This is made in the image of the very best of the Golden State. It’s aged in both French and American oak to deepen its complexity and soften its texture for an enviably smooth sip. Expect lavish notes of vanilla and sweet spice, blackberry, cherries and chocolate. Fantastic with steak with blue cheese.

Chanoine Frères 'Réserve Privée' Champagne 2014/15
£19.99 mix Six
£39.99 Single Bottle
Chanoine Frères was founded in 1730 and is the second-oldest Champagne house. It's developed its signature style over almost three centuries since, and the expertise certainly shows in this vintage Champagne. It has fine, delicate bubbles and rich flavours of candied fruit, roasted hazelnuts and honey.

Castello Toledana Gavi di Gavi 2019
£12.99 Mix Six
£16.99 Single Bottle
Founded by a noble Genoese family in the 16th century, Castello Toledana have spent centuries perfecting white wines in northern Italy’s Gavi region. But, really, nature is in charge here. Every year the weather is a little bit different, which means Toledana’s team needs to adapt to create the best, freshest Gavi possible. With so much experience, the result is always delicious. The vineyards, warmed by sun and tickled by sea breeze, produce fresh, crisp wines with flavours of almond, honey, white fruit and flowers. Pair it with fish or pasta.
Olivier Tricon ‘Léon Valleret’ Chablis 2020
£14.99 Mix Six
£24.99 Single Bottle
Chablis is where you'll find some of the world's most celebrated Chardonnays. The style here is crisp and citrusy – a far cry from the richer Chardonnays that you'll find in much of Burgundy and California. This one is made from vines that draw their water from deep limestone soils. As a result, there's a deliciously refreshing minerality in its notes of green apple, lemon and wet stones. Try it with a seafood platter.
Domaine de Saint Ferréol Viognier 2019
£11.99 mix Six
£14.99 Single Bottle
Wine has been produced at Domaine de Saint Ferréol since 1146. In 1998, the property was bought by Jorje and Ania Maslakiewicz, who have a much-deserved reputation for making some of the very best Viognier in the Languedoc. Their wines are reminiscent of Condrieu but come without the usual price tag. This wine is partially fermented and matured in French oak on its lees, giving it a lush complexity. It has flavours of peach, apricot, honeysuckle and spice. Enjoy with turkey, pork, fish or spicy Asian dishes.

J. Bouchon Semillon 2020

£16.99 Single Bottle
The Bouchon Block Series is dedicated to expressing the unique character of a place. This Semillon comes from two select plots in one of the Maule Valley's coolest spots. The 80-year-old vines here are cooled Pacific Ocean breezes, giving the wine a distinct freshness. Expect aromas of ripe lemon and orange peel, with a silky texture and crisp finish. Serve with pork chops and fennel.
J. Moreau Chardonnay Sans Bois 2020
£9.99 Mix Six
£11.99 Single Bottle
J Moreau began in 1814 and are one of the oldest names in Chablis. They've since branched out, working with dozens of growers in over a hundred different sites to respond to yearly changes in weather, source the best grapes and bring you great value. This is made by winemaker Lucie Depuydt from Chardonnay grapes grown on different mineral soils throughout France. And to great result. It's intense and bright, with aromas of jasmine, lemon and pear. Try it with grilled fish, white meat or seafood.
Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy 2020
£19.49 mix Six
£25.99 Single Bottle
Beauroy is a Premier Cru that lies on the upper slopes of Chablis. This is a prime area for growing exceptional Chardonnay, which benefits from warming sunlight and exceptional soil quality. And it tastes even better when it's aged in oak. Expect golden hints of almond, vanilla and a long finish. If you can wait, this will taste even more complex in a decade. If you can't, drink a glass with moules frites.
Royal Tokaji 2013
5 Puttonyos Aszu
Toro Silo Tempranillo 2016
£27.99 Mix Six
£36.99 Single Bottle
As a rule of thumb, older vines have more flavoursome grapes. And this is an intense, complex Temperanillo made partially from 100-year-old vines. Expect concentrated notes of red and black fruit, smooth tannins and a long finish. A first-class Ribera red that's great with roast lamb. Decant this for at least an hour before serving at room temperature.

Parcel Series St Julien 2019
£22.49 Mix Six
£29.99 Single Bottle
Parcel Series is for when top-shelf wineries need to make space quickly and discreetly. So we pick up their wines at a fraction of the usual price and pass the saving to you. The catch? We can't tell you who makes it. This was made in a fantastic vintage by a highly respected estate in Saint-Julien, the Left Bank appellation that's home to some of the finest chateaux in Bordeaux. It's classically rich and full-bodied with flavours of blackcurrant, black cherry and spice. Perfect with a wild mushroom and truffle risotto. Decanter's Amy Wislocki called it “a genuine steal at the price” and gave it 92 points.
Bread and Butter Pinot Noir 2019
£13.99 mix Six

What’s on Taste This Week In The Weston Store

Roberto Sarotto Gavi 2020
£12.99 Mix Six
£16.99 Single Bottle
The Sarotto family settled in Piedmont in the 1700s, and Roberto is the latest generation to turn his hand to this historic winemaking region. This is his interpretation of the region's iconic white wine, known as The Chablis of Italy, Gavi di Gavi. It's made from 100% Cortese grapes on a 2-hectare vineyard and went through a long, cool fermentation process to draw out the grape's signature aromatics. Add a further three months resting on lees, and you're in for a seriously textured wine. Expect floral notes, with hints of pineapple, apricot and peach.

Cline ‘Nancy’s Vines@ Viognier 2020
£14.99 Mix Six
£17.99 Single Bottle
Fred Cline is one of the original 'Rhône Rangers', who broke tradition by working with traditionally French grape varieties on the West Coast of America. Along with wife Nancy, he creates this rich, golden style of Viognier. It is full-bodied with crisp acidity, notes of tropical fruit, apricot and orange and is an excellent match for Thai food.

Pouilly fume ‘les Griottes 2020
£13.99 mix Six
£18.99 Single Bottle
Grapes from up to 40 year old vines planted on the argilo limestone and kimmeridgian clay, more commonly associated with the Chablis region, imbues the wine with Pouilly-Fumé's classic richness, smokiness and complexity. Rich and smoky on the nose, with subtle limes, white florals and honeysuckle atop a palate of fresh, clean and vibrant acidity, citrus fruit flint, minerality and green peppers. A long and layered finish.

Louis Latour Pinot Noir 2020
£14.99 Mix Six
£16.99 Single Bottle
Wine has been made in the Bourgogne for nearly two millennia, and Pinot Noir has been made here since the twelfth century. Pinot’s a really sensitive grape – it reflects the tiniest of variations in the soil or exposure – and it really loves the limestone soils of Burgundy. Suffice to say, over the centuries, Pinot and the Bourgogne have become so intertwined, from here it’s as close to perfect as the wine can get. Louis Latour are similarly a Burgundian institution – the label to look to for reliably high-quality wines. This Bourgogne Pinot Noir is a case in point. Bright. Fresh. Savoury. It’s full of those red cherry, raspberry flavours which are textbook Pinot.

Nero Oro Reserva 2017
£9.99 Mix Six
£14.99 Single Bottle
Revered winemaker Stefano Chioccioli is the brains behind one of our most-loved reds, the Nero Oro. But if you spend just a little extra, you can unlock Stefano’s full arsenal of winemaking tricks with the Nero Oro Riserva. Taken from his best vineyards and aged for 18 months in oak, it’s closer to Amarone (the acclaimed Italian red famed for its depth of flavour) than its island home would suggest. Expect bold damson, blackcurrant and dried fig notes, with a rich oak

Nobody’s Hero Sav Blanc
£9.99 Mix Six
£14.99 Single Bottle
Framingham does things differently. This Marlborough estate holds an outdoor rock concert every harvest. So, as you can imagine, their approach to winemaking is a little unconventional. We love the result. To preserve complexity, each parcel of fruit behind this bold Sauvignon is picked from several sites on Framingham's estate and vinified separately. The result is zesty Sauvignon full of rich guava, apple-skin and pineapple flavours.
Jomain Bourgogne Blanc
£14.99 Mix Six
£17.99 Single Bottle
Pouilly-Fumé is, to many, the finest expression of Sauvignon Blanc in France. It has a signature smokiness ('Fumé' is French for 'smoke) that's imitated the world over. But nothing beats the real thing. This one is made by one of the most-experienced family wineries in the region. André Figeat and his daughter, Anne-Sophie, apply no-expense-spared winemaking practices (strict pruning measures and plenty of patience) to bring the ripest Pouilly-Fumé to your glass. Expect flavours of citrus, peach and grapefruit, gunflint aromas and a long finish. Thanks to lees-ageing, it has a textured complexity that's great with goat's cheese.
Sancerre La Garenne
£14.99 mix Six
£24.99 Single Bottle
.The Fouassier family are part of the fabric of Sancerre. The winery is now with the tenth generation – and it's one of the oldest in the region. Brothers Benoit and Paul have two goals: making the finest wine and leaving their vineyards in the best possible condition for the next generation. As a result, they create their Sancerre organically and biodynamically. All this attention to detail means this is incredibly well made. It’s an elegant wine with notes of green apple, citrus, cream and freshly cut grass and a fresh finish. Try it with goat's cheese and mushrooms.
Delaunay Septembre Pinot Noir
£12.99 Mix Six
£16.99 Single Bottle
The Edouard Delaunay estate’s rich history dates back to 1893. Its wines were the choice of The Orient Express and the finest restaurants in France. A century later, it fell out of family hands. That’s until 2017, when Laurent Delaunay bought back his great-grandfather’s estate and re-established his deep-rooted family connections with the best local grape-growers. With Christophe Brioteto, award-winning winemaker, he’s making a huge success story of what is now Burgundy’s fastest up-and-coming producer. It’s complex and fresh, with flavours of raspberry, blackcurrant and cherry. Try it with duck.
M. Chapoutier Belleruche CDR
£7.99 Mix Six
£11.99 Single Bottle
When Michel Chapoutier inherited the family business, he was determined to overhaul their whole process of winemaking to make wines which were as terroir-expressive as possible. His deliciously juicy Côtes du Rhône is a firm Majestic favourite. This wine was made without the use of oak, so it’s fruit-forward and with notes of ripe black cherry, herbs and a kick of peppery spice.

To sum up as in your words a valued customer I won't be back.

Nero Ora Grillo Appassimento
£7.99. Mix Six
£9.99 Single Bottle
It’s very unusual to find a white wine made appassimento-style. That’s what makes this plush Sicilian white so exciting. It’s made by drying a portion of grapes on the vine and a portion in the sun. This method is best known for making decadently rich reds, like Amarone. But this, an appassimento Grillo, is something entirely new. Grillo is a wonderfully aromatic and distinctly Italian white grape. It’s the perfect base for this style of winemaking. Honeyed and full of dried-fruit notes, this has the fresh zing of grapefruit.
Vaux St Georges Touraine Sav Blanc

£11.99 Single Bottle
Domaine du Vaux St Georges offers a fantastic terroir of flinty sands, close to the Cher river. The influence of which, gives fantastic crispness to their grapes, creating some of the best that Touraine has to offer. A pale yellow juice boasts aromas of citrus, elderflower and a note of cedar. True to its exquisite background, the finish is long and balanced. A true summer's refresher Fantastic as an aperitif, or enjoy with a wide variety of fish.
Begude Paradis Viognier
£15.99 Mix Six
£17.99 Single Bottle

In 2003, Catherine & James Kinglake moved from London to Domaine Begude in the cool, high-altitude area of Limoux, in the Pyrenees. The first time the couple made this Viognier, there was only a tiny amount of juice to ferment. As a result, they were forced to use small oak barrels instead of stainless steel. The results were so great, they’ve followed the same principles ever since. It’s full of lush, fresh white peach and apricot flavours. A delicate, creamy texture and gentle spice make it perfect for grilled meaty fish dishes.
Saumur Lulu L’Alouette
£10.99 Mix Six
£12.99 Single Bottle
This wine is proof that there are red-wine treasures to be found in the Loire. Cabernet Franc is the star grape of Chinon, one of the few red-dominated regions in the valley. This fragrant and light wine is very approachable in its youth. It has hints of raspberry and redcurrant and pairs well with grilled pork.
Langhe Nebbiolo Forville
£9.99 Mix Six
£11.99 Single Bottle
The De Forville domaine covers ten hectares over two Piedmont villages and their production is now almost entirely bottled on the estate. Nebbiolo is a Piedmont stalwart and most famous for its role in Barolo. A Nebbiolo with striking ruby colour and a nose that displays bright red fruits with hints of spice. This complexity is carried onto the palate with racy acidity and oak bringing freshness and structure. The soft tannins make this wine a viable option to open now. Give it time in the decanter and serve with fatty meats or creamy cheese.

La Rioja Alta are one of the biggest names in Rioja. They craft this only in perfect vintages. In fact, this is the second ever made. The vines on the Torre de Oña estate are 80-year-old. This maturity means a fuller, riper style of Tempranillo. Throw in more than two years of ageing in oak, and you've got hedonistic flavours of raspberry, blackcurrant, cherry, chocolate and vanilla. It scored 94 Parker Points. Try it with roast lamb.

This delicious Saint-Émilion look-a-like is made by Domaine Baron de Rothschild – the same family behind First Growth £1,000-a-bottle Château Lafite. They bring all the same expertise to this. It’s from Montagne-Saint-Émilion – one of the only Saint-Émilion satellite appellations with high enough quality wines to use the Saint-Émilion name. Thanks to its Lafite-standard winemakers, it punches well above its price point. It’s rich. It’s savoury. It’s full of both fresh and dried fruit flavours.
