About the producer
Family-owned winery Casa Ermelinda Freitas is now in its fifth generation, with current steward Leonor Freitas now at the helm. The third female owner, she has established the brand as one of the most important wineries in the Setúbal area, expanding its portfolio from two grape varieties to 30, as well as winning a glut of awards.

About the region
Alvarinho mainly grows in Vinho Verde, in Portugal’s far north – or in similar landscapes in Spain, where the grape is known as Albariño. But Freitas’s vineyards are in the warmer southern region of Setúbal, which brings out a riper, more generous quality to the wine. This relatively small region is south of Lisbon and is best-known for its fortified sweet wine Moscatel de Setúbal.

Enjoy this wine with Clementine & Dill-Cured Salmon with Pear and Watercress Salad. Just like a wedge of lemon served on the side of a fish dish, the wine's citrussy flavours chime perfectly with the salmon.
