The Definition range brings the world's greatest wine styles to Majestic customers. And La Rioja Alta is the epitome of traditional Rioja producers. It’s still run by descendants of the five founders and prides itself on its classic style – so commissioning our Definition Rioja from them was a no-brainer. They employ their own cooper to make barrels, every single grape is picked by hand – the wines are even hand-racked by candlelight in the cathedral-like cellars beneath Haro’s cobbled streets. It’s a sophisticated wine with notes of red fruit, coconut and vanilla spice, and a really silky texture. As all Riojans know, its inviting aromatics make it a fantastic complement for slow-roasted lamb shoulder. In 2022, this wine won an IWC award for the 2018 vintage.

Definition Sauvignon Blanc 2020/21, Marlborough

When we looked to define Marlborough Sauvignon, we knew we had to bring in the big guns. There was only one man for the job – Brent Marris, the winemaker behind our best-selling Kiwi Sauvignon, The Ned. We worked with Brent to cherry pick the very best grapes from specific parcels of vines. We wanted to go big on flavour and make it mouth-wateringly refreshing. The result? It’s the very best of Marlborough in a bottle. It’s a heady mix of fresh-cut grass, elderflower and passionfruit, with textbook freshness and citrusy flavours. It’ll sing with creamy goat's cheese.

Definition Zinfandel 2019, Lodi

The Definition range brings the world's greatest wine styles to Majestic customers. The Zinfandel grape, a close relative of Primitivo, is big, bold and full of black-fruit flavour. It thrives in California’s hot, dry summers. So to create this, we went to Lodi in the Central Coast region, where Prohibition-surviving vines produce sun-soaked full-bodied reds. It’s classic Zinfandel, made by our buyers with a producer named ‘USA Producer of the Year’ five times. It’s rich and silky, with flavours of blackberry, plum and sweet spice. Try it with a hearty beef stew. In 2022, this wine won an IWC award for the 2019 vintage.

Definition Pinot Grigio 2020/21, Delle Venezie DOC

As one of the UK’s most popular wine styles, it was a no-brainer to add a delicious Italian Pinot Grigio to our Definition range. Our buyers headed to north-eastern Italy, where the vineyards reach into the cool Alpine foothills. They worked with a family winery which has generations-old relationships with the region’s best growers, taking grapes from both Friuli and Veneto. It means we have the pick of the crop – choosing grapes which are fragrant but incredibly fresh. Lime. Lemon. White peach. It’s got all the citrusy zing and freshness you’d get from squeezing a lemon. It's ideal with fresh fish or as a crisp glassful on its own.

Our glass hire service includes wine glasses, flutes and hi-ball tumblers.^*

All we ask for is a £1-per-glass deposit, payable in advance when adding glasses to your order.
When the glasses are returned to us clean and ready for re-use, the deposit is fully refunded– all you pay for is breakages.
And since you have paid a deposit, there's no time limit in which you have to return them.

FREE CHILLER BINS HIRE

Majestic offers free chiller bin* loan for customers purchasing wine from us.

Our bins hold 18-24 bottles of wine or Champagne or 2-3 cases of lager when filled with ice and water. Drinks will be chilled in 30-45 minutes and will be kept cold for several hours, especially if kept in the shade.
We can also sell the ice to go in a chiller bin, or have it arrive separately - simply contact your local store after placing your order.
