Majestic

Smoky Bonfire Old Fashioned:

Bring the spirit of the bonfire to your glass with this smoky twist on the classic Old Fashioned. Perfect for sipping around the fire as you watch the fireworks.

  1. Fill a rocks glass with ice.
  2. Add 50ml of Woodford Reserve Bourbon.
  3. Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters and a teaspoon of maple syrup.
  4. Stir to chill and garnish with an orange peel and a cinnamon stick.

Tip:
For an extra smoky touch, use a small smoking gun to infuse your drink with wood smoke, or swap the bourbon for a peated whisky like Laphroaig.

Toffee Apple Mule:

What’s Bonfire Night without toffee apples? This cocktail captures the essence of the classic treat with a refreshing twist.

  1. Fill a copper mug with ice.
  2. Add 50ml of Connie Glaze Vodka and 25ml of apple juice.
  3. Top up with ginger beer and stir gently.
  4. Garnish with a slice of fresh apple and a drizzle of caramel syrup.

Tip:
Swap the vodka for spiced rum if you fancy something with a bit more warmth.

Mulled Gin Punch:

Perfect for a cold evening, this is super easy to make up in advance and warm up as your guests arrive, so it's ideal for heading outside for the show. This is also great as an arrival drink, add a ‘garnish bar’ with sprigs of rosemary, cinnamon sticks and slices of apple to make it an activity.

  1. In a large saucepan or slow cooker, combine 300ml of Bombay Sapphire Gin, 500ml of red wine, and 500ml of apple cider.
  2. Add a cinnamon stick, star anise, cloves, and orange slices.
  3. Gently heat on low for 20 minutes (but don’t let it boil).
  4. Serve in heatproof glasses or mugs, garnished with a cinnamon stick and an orange twist.

Tip:
For a great non-alcoholic version, swap the gin for SeedlipNoughty Rouge in place of the wine and apple juice in place of cider. All of the flavour, none of the booze!.

Spiced Hot Toddy:

A classic winter warmer, the Spiced Hot Toddy is perfect for sipping by the bonfire, keeping the chill at bay with its comforting blend of spices and whisky.

  1. In a heatproof mug, add 50ml of Aberfeldy 12-Year-Old Whisky.
  2. Squeeze in the juice of half a lemon.
  3. Add a tablespoon of honey and stir to combine.
  4. Top up with hot water and garnish with a cinnamon stick, star anise, and a lemon slice.

Tip:
For an extra kick, add a splash of spiced rum to the mix!

Perfect pairings for fireworks and feasting

If cocktails aren’t your thing, there’s no shortage of fantastic wines to enjoy as you watch the fireworks. Whether you’re looking for something light to pair with snacks or a bold red to go with your Bonfire Night feast, we’ve got you covered.

For picky-bits or canapes, a crisp, zesty white wine is the way to go. The Awatere River Sauvignon Blanc is a great choice – fresh, lively, and full of citrus notes, it’s perfect for sipping on a chilly evening or pairing with lighter bites like cheese boards or roasted chestnuts.

For something more substantial, especially if you’re tucking into barbecue meats or hearty stews, a rich red wine will hit the spot. The Chocolate Block is bold, full-bodied, and packed with blackberry and of course chocolate flavours, making it the ideal partner for slow-cooked meats, sausages or smoky brisket straight off the grill.

And if you're looking for something a bit more unique, why not try an orange wine? It’s made using traditional methods where the white grapes are fermented on skins, resulting in a deeply complex wine with notes of dried fruit and a touch of spice – a brilliant match for Bonfire Night’s warming, hearty dishes.

Fabulous fizz and bonfire beers

What’s a celebration without a bit of fizz? Whether you’re toasting the fireworks or adding some sparkle to your evening, these bubbles will ensure your Bonfire Night goes off with a bang.

For something light and easy-drinking, the La Gioiosa Prosecco is the perfect choice. Its gentle bubbles and fresh pear flavours make it a great option for starting the evening or pairing with sweet treats like toasted marshmallows. Its name translated is ‘joyful’, so we know it’ll bring a smile to your guests’ faces.

If you’re after something more traditional, you can’t go wrong with a magnum of Bollinger Special Cuvée Champagne. It’s rich, complex, and always a crowd-pleaser, with a toasty finish that pairs beautifully with roasted chestnuts or even buttery popcorn – plus the big-bottle makes it a great party showstopper!

For those who prefer to celebrate with beer, we’ve got you covered too. Celebrate in style and impress your friends with the PerfectDraft machine, creating pub-perfect pints at home. Add a keg of Leffe for creamy, vanilla notes – ideal for Bonfire Night. Alternatively, if you’re after something a little lighter, try the Camden Pale Ale – its citrusy freshness is a great match for firework snacks like hot dogs or jacket potatoes.

Non-alcoholic options for a family-friendly Bonfire Night

For those who prefer to keep the celebrations alcohol-free, there are still plenty of great options to enjoy. The Noughty Sparkling Chardonnay is a great non-alcoholic alternative to Prosecco. It’s organic, vegan, and full of crisp apple and pear notes. Or, for beer lovers the Brewdog Mixed AF pack has heaps of great choices.

Whether you’re raising a glass of Champagne to the sky or wrapping your hands around a warming cocktail, Bonfire Night is all about celebrating with friends, family, and fantastic drinks. So stock up, gather round the fire, and get ready to enjoy the show!
