SOUTH AFRICA
The Capaia estate lies in the village of Philadelphia, part of the Tygerberg district, just a short distance north of Cape Town. Here, vineyards bask in a suntrap under the shelter of the Koeberg hills. And cool breezes from the nearby Atlantic Ocean allow the grapes to ripen slowly, developing deliciously concentrated flavours. Winemaker Stephan von Neipperg has been involved with the winery since 2005. As the owner of two Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion estates, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in Bordeaux-style blending – and it shows in this – Capaia’s flagship red. It’s made with just as much precision as the best Bordeaux châteaux. Grapes from each vineyard are fermented separately in oak barrels before being blended. For extra complexity, the wine spends 18 months maturing in French oak before bottling. If you can resist opening it, it will continue to develop for up to 10 years. You'll find it robust yet balanced, with flavours of blackberry, plum and mocha. Its firm tannins and a hint of smoke make it an excellent match for hearty game dishes.

If you receive an unsatisfactory bottle up to the value of £60, we will always replace, refund, or recommend another wine we think you’ll love – and there is no need to return the bottle to us. If you do not enjoy a bottle you ordered, simply get in touch with your local Majestic Wine store, let them know you did not enjoy this wine and our highly knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to replace the wine with something else we think you’ll love or refund the full amount to you.
Our glass hire service includes wine glasses, flutes and hi-ball tumblers.*
All we ask for is a £2-per-glass deposit, payable in advance when adding glasses to your order. When the glasses are returned to us clean and ready for re-use, the deposit is fully refunded– all you pay for is breakages. And since you have paid a deposit, there's no time limit in which you have to return them. To request glasses when you order online, simply place your order online, then contact your local store, quoting your order number.
Majestic offers free chiller bin* loan for customers purchasing wine from us.
Our bins hold 18-24 bottles of wine or Champagne or 2-3 cases of lager when filled with ice and water. Drinks will be chilled in 30-45 minutes and will be kept cold for several hours, especially if kept in the shade. We can also sell the ice to go in a chiller bin, or have it arrive separately - simply contact your local store after placing your order.

Very good. Calmer than many of the 🇿🇦 reds which can be quite blunt with shiraz. This smooth & will age well. Excellent value. Recommended.

Absolutely fabulous wine which perfectly demonstrates the strength of South African offerings. Rich and complex with dark fruit and tobacco, it absolutely knocks spots off Chocolate Block. I expect it will improve even further with a few years in bottle.

All'essame visivo si mostra di un granato vivo e intenso, con sentori di mora e prugna acompagnate da leggere foglia di tè per finire su moka. Al palato è corposo e pieno con ritorni sulla frutta scura con tostatura, tannini decisi ma levigati

Really enjoyed this wine. Big, powerful but not too "in your face", just layer upon layer of fruit, tobacco and spice. Very smooth and long finish. Good value at £13 a bottle I think.

This is a very good heavy, smooth, oaky wine. Very South African. Great, if that's what you like. For me, it lacks the elegance of a similar quality Old World wine. Horses for courses!
