The Bolney Estate in West Sussex is an 18 acre vineyard presently focussing on 6 premium varietals; Pinot Noir, Rondo, Dornfelder, Chardonnay, Bacchus and Pinot Gris. The first vine was planted in 1972 and the estate has become a real success over the years, winning numerous awards and improving on their technique year - on -year.
This Pinot Noir balances attractive aromatics, sweet fruit and fine tannins. Just a portion has visited barrels, which adds a hint of aromatic toast and palate piquancy. Otherwise, the focus is the ripe fruit, introduced by a translucent ruby colour. Juicy red cherry fruits on the palate have ripeness and density about them, laced with finely perceptible tannins, all in a modest body that’s freshly balanced. It’s vibrant and bright with flavours of ripe strawberries and plums, red cherry and toasted almonds. Pairing perfectly with asparagus, pork and game birds.
To help transport you to beautiful, white sandy beaches with the tranquility of the shoreline, Majestic are introducing Whale Cove Sauvignon Blanc to our range.
Worried it won’t match your favourites from New Zealand??
Fear Not! It’s been created to perfectly mirror the big names from Marlborough!
Made by head winemaker Debbie Thompson, who has over 20 years experience, this wine comes from Origin Wines in Stellenbosch. It’s a blend of parcels of fruit from a range of sites in Elgin, Darling and Stellenbosch resulting in a top quality Western Cape wine.
Whale Cove is a balanced and refreshing wine with crisp flavours of citrus, apple and herbs.
It is a perfect match for seasonal salads and pan-fried salmon!
And at only £7.99, it’s an absolute bargain! It’s also vegan-friendly!!
But don’t just take our word for it - It’s open on our tasting counter this weekend so pop down and give it a try!
Call us, email, or pop in and see us, and we will arrange a suitable time to get your wines, beers, and spirits to you.

Here is everything you need to know about Riesling…
Riesling is one of the most versatile grapes, with something for everyone! On the vine, the grape is deep golden yellow and the resulting wine can range from pale to richly golden in the glass. Riesling is predominately grown in a cool climate for example on the banks of the Mosel River in Germany or in Victoria, South Australia.
It is a floral, aromatic grape with concentrated fruit characters which enables it to age well in its bottle. Riesling produces wines from sweet to dry, the drier it is generally the more alcohol it has.
The main producers of Riesling are Germany, with Alsace, New Zealand and Australia also being large producers.
Here’s some from our store that we recommend you try.
The Lodge Hill, Jim Barry 2020. Clare Valley, Australia.
This Riesling is a classic Australian refreshing Riesling. It’s dry with gentle notes of lime and stone fruits with a subtle toast flavouring. Best to be enjoyed in its youth!
Dr Loosen Slate Hill, Germany 2020
Dr Loosen has vines in some of Germany’s best rated vineyards. Mosel valley’s steep slopes create the ideal climate for the Riesling, the altitude mixed with the sun creates the perfect environment for the grapes to grow. The sweetness in this wine is lifted by the fresh crispiness. Try this with a rich, fragrant curry or some battered calamari.
Weingut’s Schloss Vollrads, 2018
This is a Kabinett which is the driest category of Riesling. It is fresh and fruity, and excellent for many occasions. It has a great balance of crisp green apple and honey and goes brilliantly with sushi or scallops.
