Phil Assistant Manager

Having worked in the wine industry for 11 years I have developed a keen passion for wine. From running an Independent Wine Merchant and choosing the range, to managing 4 different Majestic branches, I've seen quite a few vintages. You'll find me spending my spare time enjoying a full and rich White Burgundy or for red a full bodied Left Bank Bordeaux. My favourite wine and food pairing is Champagne and Fish and Chips. I'd recommend you try it, if you haven't already done so.

I grew up on the Bellarine Peninsula in the state of Victoria, where they make some excellent Pinot Noir. When I lived in Canada I was a sommelier at a fine dining Italian Restaurant and spent my free time touring the wine regions of Oregon and British Columbia. I've also worked as a wine buyer for International Businessmen and my speciality was sourcing old and rare vintages of Penfolds Grange and Henschke Hill of Grace. If I had to choose a red wine it would be Brunello Di Montalcino and for white an aged Australian Riesling.

I wanted to order wine to the value of circa £250 but I was unable to find out how to get it delivered. I kept being forced to "Collect". I therefore deleted my order.
Please advise how I can get wine delivered or I will consider changing my wine merchant.
Also, because my account seems to be locked as Collect only, a lot of wine that I would have otherwise have chosen was unavailable from Sevenoaks!
Is Majestic having problems?

Really good experience, had a tasting with the assistant of a very knowledgeable young lady( sorry didn’t get name ) came out with a bit more than I was expecting to buy but very pleased. Wasn’t to keen on a particular wine, took it back with no problem at all with refund. Excellent service.

Majestic wines trains their staff well. I needed to send a birthday present for my uncle in New Malden, called the Cheam branch the guy suggested making a payment over the phone and ask my uncle to pick up as they don't deliver. He was so kind, my uncle collected voucher and chose wines of his choice the next day.
Well done for investing in your lovely staff.

In the busy run-up to Christmas, I wanted to order a case of wine as a gift for a friend. On the Majestic Wine website, I chose my selection, entered all the necessary details then found I couldn't complete the transaction because the website wouldn't accept my French address as the registered billing address for my credit card. Aaaargh!!! Who designed that website???
I then had a lightbulb moment and phoned the branch nearest to my friend - Sevenoaks - and was helped by the most friendly, knowledgeable guy. I explained what I wanted, he checked that my wine selections were available, substituting one that he didn't have in stock with something comparable, took payment on my credit card without a hitch and had the wine delivered 2 days later. Fantastic service which shows that talking to a human being can be far more efficient and pleasant than buying online! I'm sorry I didn't find out his name, but three cheers for the guy who saved the day for me. Next time, I'll know what to do.

These guy went about and beyond to fulfil my order!
I ordered online for next day delivery. By 3pm I wondered when it was coming? (Halloween party) so I called Sevenoaks’s. It turned out that it was due to come from another warehouse but there was a problem. The guy sorted it out immediately. Cancelled the warehouse order, selected my wines from Sevenoaks and even sent someone to Tunbridge wells to collect the wines that were not in stock. Less than 2 hours later, I had a very friendly delivery to my door. Impeccable customer services! Thanks guys!
