Understanding the Zebra Striping Trend

Zebra striping is the new term coined to describe an age-old drinking concept, where you alternate your alcoholic beverage with a non-alcoholic beverage. For those trying to drink a little less or just be more mindful, it’s a great way to not only reduce your alcohol consumption during social occasions but also space out your alcoholic drinks.

What you zebra stripe with is totally up to you. This could be as simple as a glass of water or something a little more exciting, like a mocktail, alcohol-free beer or wine. If you’re someone who feels like they always need to be doing something with their hands, it’s a great way to keep them busy!

With longer, brighter days upon us, zebra striping is the perfect way to find some moderation among the many garden parties, BBQs, and all-day gatherings. In fact, starting your zebra striping with a non-alcoholic beverage is thought to be the best way to do it, as it is known to make you drink your second drink a little more slowly - it’s too easy to get excited and guzzle that first glass of crisp fizz.

From there, it’s dealcoholized in specialist facilities in Germany to ensure all of the delicious flavour is retained. Expect fruity red-berry flavours with hints of elderflower. A great option for an alternative apéritif or fantastic with Asian-inspired dishes.

REAL Dry Dragon Sparkling Tea 0.5%

Also known as Dragonwell, this is the highest quality pan-roasted green tea from Hangzhou, Zheijiang province in China, and fermented to produce a non-alcoholic Sparkling. It originates from eighteen tea bushes that were given special imperial status by the Qianlong Emperor during the Qing dynasty. Pour this in a wine glass and it’ll look just like you’ve got a glass of fizz!

Schloss Wachenheim have been shaping the world of wine since 1888, starting in the quaint village of Wachenheim in Germany’s Pfalz region. Now, they’ve taken their expertise to new heights, becoming leaders in both sparkling wines and alcohol-free innovation. Using a gentle de-alcoholisation process at low temperatures, they preserve all the character and elegance you’d expect from a quality Pinot Noir. Le Moderato Revolutionary Cuvée White is a pioneering alcohol-free wine from Gascony, a region celebrated for its mild climate, perfect for cultivating Colombard grapes. Notes of pear, peach, and citrus zest lead to a lively, refreshing finish. Served chilled, it pairs beautifully with ceviche, seasonal salads or savoury white meats, enhancing their light and delicate flavours.

Moderato Merlot-Tannat Cuvée Révolutionnaire 0.5%

Drawing on Gascony’s rich winemaking heritage, this alcohol-free red is crafted with a blend of Merlot and Tannat grapes sourced from the vineyards of South West France. Awarded a silver medal at the Concours International de Lyon 2023, it’s medium-bodied with velvety tannins and a smooth finish, making it a versatile choice for pairing with dishes like beef, vegetable lasagna or shepherd’s pie. Serve at 18°C or slightly chilled to enjoy its vibrant character.

Lucky Saint 0.5% Hazy IPA 4x330ml Cans
