    Amersham's Fine Wine update

    Mike

We have recently managed to add some exciting new wines to our Fine Wine range. Below is a list of the new wines, feel free to contact us regarding any of these if you wish to know a little bit more.

    Australia

Two Hands 'Angel's Share' Shiraz  2010  ~  £22 single bottle but down to £18 when you buy two.

The Angels Share refers to a small amount of wine that evaporates from the barrels during maturation. Mediaeval winemakers assumed that angels watched over the barrels and took their 'share'. Selected from parcels of exceptional fruit, this wine is true Ozzy in style and will appeal to both angels and mortals alike.

Two Hands 'Gnarly Dudes' Shiraz  2010  ~  £22 single bottle but down to £18 when you buy two.

The 'Gnarly Dudes' refers to the shape the vines form during growth, said to stand like soldiers ready to battle. They stand around for their life throwing out crop after crop of beautiful fruit. Shiraz, mature vines and the Barossa Valley, there is nothing quite like it.

Petaluma Shiraz   2010  ~  £23 single bottle but down to £19 when you buy two.

'A cracking example of what the Adelaide Hills and Petaluma can produce when working together, true Ozzy Shiraz'.

    Spain

Vina Ardanza 2001 'Reserva Especial'  ~  £22 single bottle price, £18 when you buy two.

Only three vintages of Vina Ardanza, 1964, 1973 and 2001, have deserved the classification 'Reserva Especial'. A unique combination of rain, sun, cold and heat has created a superb wine.

    Burgundy

Morey St Denis 1er Cru 'Les Sorbes' 2006 Nicolas Potel  ~  £19.99

Pommard Vielles Vignes 2008 Nicolas Potel  ~  £19.99

    Puligny-Montrachet 2010 Nicolas Potel  ~  £19.99

Over the summer this list of new wines will increase. Feel free to phone and ask more or pop in and browse the range.

    Sample our Saturday Fizz

    Mike

Hurrah!! After a short debate with the team about what to open we have decided ,that as it's saturday and the traditional British weather should be good, tomorrow we will open up Prosecco for all our lovely customers to try.

The prosecco we have selected is called La Marca, Treviso Extra Dry NV. This is a dry style prosecco made from grapes grown on the hills surrounding the town of Treviso, close to Venice in northern Italy. The grapes are gently pressed then kept cool and fermented in stainless steel which brings out the delicate and fresh fruit flavours that prosecco is famous for.

This is dry youthful fruity fizz at a great price £8.99 £11.99

So if you can 'pop' in and have a try.

Our Team

  • Nick

    Manager

Full bodied reds (particularly Italian) and white Burgundies are my favourites: Valpolicella Ripasso, Chablis and all things Cordier (sensational Burgundies which, if from the Mâcon, offer exceptional value for money which really must be tried)

  • Steph

    Assistant Manager

I enjoy sherry as both an aperitif and digestif. A glass of Manzanilla paired with tapas at the beginning of the evening later followed by a glass of Pedro Ximenez with vanilla ice cream to finish. When i'm looking for value for money I often gravitate towards Chile for reds and head to white Burgundy when i want to treat myself.

  • David

    Trainee Manager

The Champagne rack to me is like the bright lights of Las Vegas, Champagne is what I adore the most, two of my favourites are Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque and Bollinger Grande Annee. I also enjoy drinking heavy reds such as Australian shiraz, particularly from the Barossa Valley.

  • Robert S

    Trainee Manager

With an extensive background in sales and customer service I decided to apply my skills to something I love , wine and spirits. From the gewurztraminers of the Alsace to the bourbons of Tennessee, it is a subject that has always held my interest and continues to do so as I learn more everyday.

  • Mike

    Trainee Manager

I've just joined Amersham, having been in the High Wycombe branch for 1 year. Pinot Noir is my vice. I love the silky red berry flavours from the old world burgundians or New Zealands great offerings from Central Otago. Pinot Noir is a really difficult grape to grow, and getting it right brings cracking flavours to the glass and this i really appreciate.
