Wine of The Week: Yalumba Bush Vine
Grenache 2011/2012 Barossa Valley
The Barossa Valley has some of the
oldest vines in the world, most of these planted as bush vines in the
traditional free-standing style. Yalumba was founded in 1849, long
before most 'Old World' wineries.
Spicy dark
berried fruits and a savoury, meaty plum fragrance. A juicy core of
impressive density on the palate, showing savoury and earthy texture
and a long, smooth, fine-grained finish.
A good
alternative to Châteauneuf-du-Pape and a brilliant partner to spare
ribs.
