    It's alright for some...

    Soph

At Majestic, we pride ourselves on our staff and their knowledge and our Molesey protege, Hannah, has been taking full advantage of this this week. Tuesday she helped out at Surbiton's tasting, Wednesday she was playing the glamourous hostess at our very own Summer Tasting, tonight she is off to sample the delights of regional France at a Domaine Begude and Domaine Sainte Rose tasting, and on Saturday she will be helping out at our Italian Tastings. It's alright for some!!

I think this calls for a pop quiz next week!!

    Summer Tasting

    Soph

Soooo, we have been banging on about it for weeks but today is finally the day - it is time for our summer tasting. Obviously the rain and the cold has greated us in proper British Summer fashion but we won't let that dampen our spirits, because here at Masjestic East Molesey we have eleven of our favourite wines prepared to show you what we think summer should be about...

Keep your eyes peeled through the course of the day as we slowly reveal what wines we are going to be having open tonight, and tomorrow we shall review each of the wines and let you guys know which was the most popular.

And if the excitement gets too much for you guys as the day goes on, there are still places available so you can always call up as soon as poss to reserve a place for tonight!

Wine of the Week: Truffier Malbec

    P.D

A nice juicy Southern French red this week, just in time as BBQ season is in full swing.

One of the premier producers of Cahors, the Rigal family have extended their operation to include vineyards throughout the Lot Valley. The region has many alluvial terraces that are free-draining and have great sun exposure, and are perfect for growing Malbec.

Dense, blackish purple. Aromas of black cherry and bramble fruit, along with hints of anise and prune. The palate is bold and robust, framing juicy fruit with peppery tannins. Drink over the next 2-3 years, with chargrilled pork ribs.

£6.99 When you buy two or more as part of our minimum of six bottles.

Having a BBQ? Size totally matters...

Having a BBQ? Size totally matters...

It's no secret that here at Majestic Molesey we like to have the WOW factor when it comes to wine. And so I think I have found just the things that will make all the other kids at a BBQ stand back and realise just how serious you are! For the summer afternoon BBQ, I suggest AIX rose, a light Provence rose that has those light summer fruit flavours that both make this wine stand out as a brilliant easy drinking rose that hits the right notes for everyone but also, as it comes in Magnum (£19.99) and double Magnum (£50) size, its definitely one to show off. Now, if you are planning a later BBQ, that might run later into the evening, whereby people are ready to have slightly heavier food, and maybe move on to a glass of red, we also have the Riscal Rioja Reserva, an old store favourite - and again, this comes in both Magnum (£30) and Double Magnum (£75) form - with a classic earthy, vanilla nose, and hints of dark fruit jam, you'll find this wine works excpetionally well with those lamb kebabs...

The coolest labelled Wine of the Week...

The coolest labelled Wine of the Week...

Here at Majestic Molesey we are more than aware that tasting wines is not just about swirling it round your mouth, it is a sensory experience that encompasses visuals and smells as well as taste. Which is why we opted for Mister Shiraz as our Wine of the Week this week, and at £6.99 if you take any other Chilean wine it is an absolute stormer of a bottle. An exclusive bottling for Majestic, you can expect a more traditional, robust, spice driven Shiraz which shows fantastic old world characteristics whilst still having the New World style that we have all come to know and love. When in the glass, this wine is deep crimson in colour with hints of violet which shows it's youthful character. On the nose there are deep dark fruit flavourings such as plum with hints of summer strawberries as well as slight hints (but not overpowering) of vanilla and cedar which we can put down to the ageing that this wine had in French and American Oak. When it comes to tasting this wine, you definitely know it is there - a big palate with great length - the plummy characteristics that you get on the nose are also present which makes it the perfect partner to a rare, well seasoned rib steak!

Salut! My passion for wine started from an early age inherited from a food and wine driven family. My love of a good glass has taken me all over the world from the vineyards of New Zealand and Austria to now managing a successful wine store in the fantastic East Molesey. My wine preferences change with the seasons. Voluptuous Chardonnay and warming Shiraz keep me going through the winter, whilst refreshing Rieslings and elegant Pinot Noir are my tipple of choice in the warmer months.

Hiyyya! I have been in Majestic for the past 18 months and have traveled round the UK as well as working in our French stores for a few months. I am a big fan of bubbles, which was only ever encouraged by visiting Champagne last year but give me a big, bold, in your face red, (Argentinian Malbec) and I am happy! Don't forget to tweet us @majesticmol

I have been a hairdresser for the last 8 years but my love of wine has brought me here to Majestic for a new and exciting career! I am a big 'foodie' so passionate about food and wine pairing. My wine of choice is a new world Sauvignon Blanc bursting with gooseberry citrus.
