Yalumba
Eden Valley Viognier
2010
Grapes
100% Viognier
Origin
Yalumba was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith, British migrant and English brewer, who had brought his family to Angaston seeking a new life. After purchasing a 30-acre parcel of land just beyond the southern-eastern boundary of Angaston, Smith and his son
began planting the first vines by moonlight. Samuel named his patch "Yalumba" – aboriginal for "all the land around".
Taste
Pure aromas of apricot nectar, honeysuckle and orange oil. The palate is long, rich and luscious, with intense stone fruit flavours and finishes with an aromatic citrus freshness.
Enjoy
Enjoy with Maroccan Tagine, lamb or poultry.
What the Press said
"Well, if viognier was this good, sauvignon blanc would have a real fight on its hands for the hearts and minds of Australian white-wine drinkers. This '10 Eden (Valley) viognier is packed full of complex aromas of musk, apricot and vanilla, with a luscious
palate that finishes with a nutty, dry finish. At no point does it become too cloying or sweet, a common fault of lesser examples."
