We have made some changes to comply with the Alcohol (Scotland) Act 2010 which comes into force on 1 October 2011. The new Act disallows any alcohol promotion offering customers a discount for buying multiple products in Scottish stores.
So that all our customers can benefit from the same competitive pricing, wherever a multi-buy price is offered in England and Wales, this will be the single-bottle price we charge in Scotland.
|Price in England and Wales
||Price in Scotland
|£6.99, Buy 2 bottles save £2 = £5.99
|£6.99, Buy 2 bottles save 20% = £5.59
Our website covers the whole of the UK. More than 90% of our online orders are despatched via stores in England and Wales, including some orders where customers in Scotland are sending gifts south of the border. Therefore, the pricing we quote as you browse the site will be that which applies in our English and Welsh stores.
However, if you select a delivery address where we deliver via a Scottish store, your order will be recalculated using the pricing effective in Scotland. In the vast majority of cases, the total for your order will not change, or if it does change it will only be by a few pence due to differences in the way the prices are rounded.
Since the Alcohol (Scotland) Act only covers deliveries that originate in Scotland, some deliveries to Scottish addresses are not affected because they originate in England. This includes some parts of the Borders covered by our Carlisle or Newcastle stores, or those parts of the Highlands and Islands where we deliver via courier (since our Mail Order warehouse is in England).
Grape to Glass
We are unable to produce a separate Grape to Glass for Scotland, so wherever a multi-buy price is offered in England and Wales, this will be the single-bottle price we charge in Scotland.
Our Scottish stores have separate price tickets and other material, so prices quoted will of course be those valid in Scotland. However, so that customers can easily identify the best value, Scottish price tickets also quote the single bottle price in England and Wales as a comparison.
