This claret, from the sublime 2010 vintage, is made less than ten minutes' drive from 'First Growth' Châteaux Lafite and Mouton Rothschild, which both demand £400+ a bottle. Château Bertrand-Braneyre's 40-year-old vines see near-identical conditions, but its prices are minuscule in comparison. Dive into its depths of blackberry, blueberry, cinnamon and leather.

A bit of a curates egg here. Thin and on the light side, with beginnings of garnet colour indicating past its best . Quite tannic but lacking body, though impressive after taste. Good value at c.£10 though.

I was a bit surprised how much I enjoyed this wine given the ratings on Majestic. It's light but perfumed and very approachable. Subtle fruit and whilst not by any means complex

I am really astonished at some of the negative reviews this wine has received.  They make little sense at all to me.  This is an excellent example of a lower ranking Medoc

I think the 2010 is better than 2009 lots of tannin  benefits from aeration and filtration when pouring

I am really astonished at some of the negative reviews this wine has received.  They make little sense at all to me.  This is an excellent example of a lower ranking Medoc, which is possibly the greatest district of the finest red wine region in the world.   It is a typical '˜Claret' from one of the best vintages of the 20th century, which stands comparison with many of its more illustrious peers.  It really is a snip at the price.  Do decant it though, the two bottles I've tried already had thrown a very small deposit.  The red wine that doesn't benefit from decanting has yet to be made anyway.  I doubt it will improve much more with age, though you never know.  Wines of the Medoc can be notoriously long lived.

Got 6 of these because the write up looked good. The wine was -is  hideous, it's like something from the 3.99 shelf. However if you like wine on the copper coin side go ahead
