Duc de Belmont Côteaux Bourguignons 2011
Côteaux Bourguignons is a modern appellation established in 2011, covering both red and white wines sourced anywhere in the 'Burgundy Hills' but falling outside of the classic appellations, from around Chablis in the north to Beaujolais in the south.
A light-to-medium-bodied red wine, crammed with vivid flavours of ripe redcurrant, blackberry and raspberry, all framed by rounded tannins and gentle perfumed notes.
Ideal foil for simple grilled meat dishes.
Château La Sauvageonne Rosé 2014 Côteaux du Languedoc

Beer of the Week: LagunitasDate published: 17/06/15
Beer of the Week: Lagunitas
Lagunitas India Pale Ale, 6.2%
Success In the USA
Lagunitas is one of the top 10 selling craft beers in the USA. Originally created in Lagunitas, California in 1993, the company moved to bigger premises in Petaluma, California the following year.
With demand and interest on the East Coast growing, Tony Magee opened a second brewery in Chicago in April 2014.
The new Chicago brewery has a 600,000 barrel capacity and now has an on-premise taproom.
Why should you buy this beer...
The beer itself is made with 43 different hops and 65 various malts.
It is light amber in colour with a frothy white head. It smells light and citrusy with a hint of pine. The smells and flavours are very similar and it’s surprisingly light, given the number of hops used within the brewing process. It is very smooth with only a hint of bitterness on the finish.
The Lagunitas Brewing Company recommend drinking it on its own or with a mild blue cheese!

Wine of the Week: El Viajero Sauvignon Blanc, Chile £6.66Date published: 17/06/15
Wine of the Week: El Viajero Sauvignon Blanc, Chile £6.66
El Viajero Sauvignon Blanc, Leyda Valley, Chile
Cool Sauvignon Blanc
The Leyda Valley is approximately half way down the country of Chile, to the south and west of Santiago.
The vineyards are situated only 10 miles from the coast, meaning that the influence of the Pacific Ocean is very important to the region. The ocean helps moderate the temperatures, meaning that the winters are mild and the summers are warm rather than hot.
This creates a cool climate for grape growing, and one grape that can produce fantastic wine in these conditions is Sauvignon Blanc.
Should I compare thee to a Loire or a Kiwi?
The Loire style of Sauvignon tends to be restrained, with subtle flavours of citrus, with some peachy or apricot flavours. The soft ripe flavours and sharp acidity make them great wines to drink with food.
New Zealand wines tend to be bigger and bolder with citrus flavours and gooseberry being prominent.
This cool climate Chilean wine falls somewhere between the two. The flavours are more obvious than that of a Loire wine, yet not as powerful as some from New Zealand.
Why should you buy this wine...?
If this wine were from the Loire it would be twice the price. The last few years have also seen a rise in price of New Zealand Sauvignon, so if you are looking for a quality, value Sauvignon Blanc, Chile is the place to look - and you need look no further - you’ve found it!

Marvellous Malbec!Date published: 29/05/15
Hello Majestic fans, today I wish to talk to you about something currently on our tasting counter- an Argentinian Malbec. 'Hey Malbec!' sports a particularly eye-catching label. It's cartoon in design but I must say the wine itself belies its light-hearted label. It's has distinct flavour, one which stays on the tongue and the mind long after the last sip has been imbibed. It has hints of black pepper with a refreshing, almost cleansing, taste. The aforementioned taste is balanced well with an undercurrent of black fruits. It seems only fitting that Argentina's gastronomic speciality, that of steak, goes particularly nicely with this wine. Its mild spice and refreshing flavour would only be enhanced by a fantastically prepared steak- perhaps outside, weather permitting!

Brad and Angelina's wine on it's way to Majestic Nottingham
The wine that is made on the estate owned by Brad and Angelina, Miraval, in the beautiful Provence region is on it's way to your local Majestic wine. I can promise you that this is a GREAT wine, it is not a celebrity endorsed fad, it is a superbly made Provence Rose that many are saying is one of the best out there!
We are selling this at £17.99 a bottle and will have good stocks all Summer, and even more exciting we will be stocking the magnums! These are £38 and make a fantastic centre piece to any BBQ or dinner party.
I personally enjoy drinking Provence Rose in the Summer (sometimes the Winter as well!) and think it is a great wine to enjoy with food, especially slightly spiced dishes such as chilli and king prawn linguine, pad Thai or a paella. It stands up really well to a little spice and comes alive!

It's Here - The Craft Beer Revolution!
Gone are the days of boring beer. Walk into any pub, bar or restaurant and you can get so more than just a carling on draught! Micro-breweries are popping up everywhere and why not - there is so much variation with the humble hop and barley that there is ample opportunity to carve a little niche in a rapidly expanding market.
We like to think that, at Majestic, we have spent our time searching, researching and of course, tasting our way around as many craft breweries as possible. We have some great beers and our range is expanding every day. And, whats more, if you buy any two of our craft ales, you save £6!!
Here are just a few beers that you must try this summer. Don't ask questions, just trust us!
Einstok Icelandic White Ale - £9.99
From the north of Iceland, this is modelled on the traditional Belgian witbier. Infused with coriander and orange peel, this is a zesty little thing. It maintains a fine balance between full bodied and light and, ultimately, is incredibly refreshing after a long day at work!
Punk IPA - £9.99
The growing empire of Scottish company Brewdog is a testament to their skill and dedication in making fine beer. Punk IPA is a light, golden beer with plenty of tropical fruits and a hit of refreshing citrus.
Brooklyn Summer Ale - £9.99
From the guys at Brooklyn comes a slightly lighter, fresher beer. Light enough for lager lovers and meaty enough for ale lovers, this is the perfect blend! Crisp and clean, this is those who enjoy a flavoursome tipple
Help; my wine is corked!Date published: 26/05/14
Unfortunately, cork taint is an inevitable problem when sealing wine with natural cork. Here at Majestic, however, we feel it shouldn't cause you any hassle!
It's as easy as pie for us to replace; either we can credit the value of the bottle against your next order, or we can do a simple swap and change for you.
If ordering online or over the phone, be sure to put a note in the delivery instructions space to say that you have a bottle you'd like to return due to it being corked or just mention it to us when ordering over the phone. We can then arrange to collect and replace the offending bottle when delivering.
If you prefer to see our smiling faces in store, you can return the bottle to us here and we can exchange it!
All we ask that you keep the bottle and some of the wine inside, so that we can record the nature of the fault and helping to assist our suppliers in their quality control.
Why doesn't wine taste like grapes?!Date published: 10/03/14
It is a little ironic that wine is made entirely from grapes and yet if you have a glass, it rarely tastes like grapes. In fact, it can taste of almost anything, from pineapple to lemon (for white wine), from plum, to leather (in the case of red wine).
Some people even think that small amounts of these fruits are added to wine to change the flavour, but it is in fact the extremely complex process of wine-making which actually changes the chemical compounds found in the grapes so that they resemble those found in other fruits.
Almost every step of the wine-making process can change the flavour and body of the wine, for example the can undergo Malalactic Fermentation, which changes the harsh Malic Acid (acid found in apples, lemons etc) into Lactic Acid (acids found in dairy). New World Chardonnay often undergoes this process to turn an appley, citrusy wine into a creamy, buttery wine.
If you would like to know more about these processes, simply ask a member of staff next time you are in store and they will be happy to go into more detail.
