Flexible and friendly
"For the money, this is one of my favourite Italian white wines in our range. Gavi di Gavi is often called the 'Chablis of Italy' on account of the mineral quality (think fresh, wet stones) of the wines. La Toledana certainly has that, but also a surprising richness of fruit that you might not expect; the grapes for this wine are afforded a little longer hang-time on the vine after ripening to concentrate the flavours, and the result is a full, dry, fruit-driven Gavi with a ripe character and tremendous food flexibility. Great with chicken in creamy sauces, also delicious with fish. A great go-to wine and one to keep a good stock of in the wine rack."
