Grape

Merlot, Syrah or Shiraz, Carmenère

Origin
Viña Anakena's Merlot comes from several plots in Alto Cachapoal, around 100km south of Santiago. The soils here consist of roughly equal parts of sand, limestone and clay, providing a great all-round terroir for a wide range of grape varieties.
Taste
A supremely easy-drinking, soft-tannined Merlot, with small amounts of Syrah and Carmenere added for a slightly meatier structure. Nose and palate are reminiscent of a big bowl of red fruits.
Enjoy
Drink on its own or with white meat dishes, pork sausages, or a vegetarian lasagne.

    Loved it

I tried a couple of bottles at Christmas & have since got 6 more. I found it to be very smooth & fruity, a very enjoyable wine & I didn't have ant issues with getting the screw cap off. Would highly recommend

Regrettably, this was out of stock and, as such, I have not been able to sample its delights or otherwise

    Old Fashioned

This wine has a screw top - marvellous but needs mechanical aid to open it first time! This wine is much too oaky for me and I am suprised that Chilean Winegrowers apparently still use oak barrels for fermantaion. I should have thought they would be using Stainless Steel. This merlot is, for me very oldfashioned in taste.

    Rather rough

Having had to use a sharp knife to help remove the screw cap, I wa very disappointed with the contents. This is not a typical Merlot but an inferior, acidic red wine. Very disappointing.
