Origin
Cono Sur makes their basic to showcase the pure fruit of each grape variety. This is a great example of a Chilean Merlot from the Mediterranean climate of the Central Valley. It is ripe, fruity and easy to drink.
Taste
Intense ruby red, ripe plum and black fruits with just a hint of vanilla, the palate has soft tannins and a smooth finish.
Enjoy
Ideal with grilled meats, pork, pasta and pizza. Drink whilst young.

    My Favourite red

    Has always been my favourite red but these days very hard to find although the Reserve can be more easily found. Beats many more expensive reds.

    Disappointing

    Merlots are usually a safe bet, and gaving liked another wine by Cono Sur, I thought I'd give this a go. Not much nose. Acidic and lacking depth and balance. Much better merlots available.

    Simple but effective

    A pretty bog standard Chilean Merlot. A big flavour of dark red fruit, with lots of smoke and spice, but soft tannins make this an easy drink. Definately worth a buy when back on offer.
