"The Awatere and Wairu are two of the best valleys in Marlborough. This has intense aromas of cut grass, gooseberry and passionfruit leaping from the glass, undercut by flinty mineral notes. Lees ageing gives this extra body, but it isn't fat and heavy. It has bold, mouth filling tropical fruit flavours alongside the flinty finish. A smoky character really sets this apart, reminding me of good Sancerre. "
