Grape

Sauvignon Blanc

Origin
Grown in Nelson, to the west of Marlborough, on stony loam soils with high sunshine hours and a moderating Maritime influence. The winemaking philosophy blends Old World techniques with pioneering methods now becoming commonplace in the new world.
Taste
Aromas of ripe gooseberry and tropical fruit, delicate floral notes and mineral characters. An elegant, crisp palate of citrus and gooseberry with a zingy, refreshing finish.
Enjoy
Gorgeous on a warm summer afternoon, or even to bring some sunshine to a wet afternoon. Fantastic with oysters and scallops.

Too much Steel not enough complex flavours

This is a poor NZ SB. There are much better on this site.

    Great tasting wine

This is the best New Zealand Sauvignan Blanc I have tasted in many years, and I have tasted a few in my time! Great fruity taste with an after flavour that sits upon the tongue so that you can savour the flavour for longer!

A very pleasant alternative to typical Marlborough

This wine has more of a mineral finish, with some sharp lime. It makes for a very pleasant alternative to typical Marlborough Sauvignons. A very good summer aperitif. Expensive at full price but definitely worth the money with 20% reduction

    Passable

Has a slight fizz which is pleasant, if you like that sort of thing. Nice, but with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Enjoyed drinking it but it is far from the others NZ SBs you can get for the price.

Staff Reviews

  • It's not all about Malborough

"For me sometimes NZ Sauvignon can be a bit like alcoholic fruit juice - here we have something different - gooseberry is replaced by lime with a minerality reminiscent of old world sauvgnon. An elegant and more restrained example of the much loved grape."

  • Manager, Majestic Marylebone

"Fantastic Kiwi Sauvignon, although not your typical Marlborough number, this wine is from Nelson, on the Eastern shore of the Tasman Bay, in the Northern part of the South Island. Vibrant and fresh aromas of gooseberry, lime and passion-fruit leap from the glass. Very intense, the classic Sauvignon Blanc citrus and zesty flavours, but slightly richer than wines from Marlborough."
