Grape

Loureiro

Origin
Literally 'green wine' from the Minho region of Northern Portugal. Historically fermented in open stone lagares before being run off into cask and undergoing malolactic fermentation. Fermentation now occurs in vat, retaining the classic spritz or CO2 bubble in the wine.
Taste
Complex aromas of white and tropical fruits, citrus and white flowers. A lively and stimulating wine, with good acidity and well balanced, hints of spritz and bubble, with a concentrated and fresh finish.
Enjoy
At its best now, as a partner to seafood, green salads and pasta.

    Something different

I was definitely surprised when this first hit the lips (though the description was spot on). Small fizz to the tongue with a smooth zest finish. Not overpowering. Very unique taste.

    Perfect Summer Wine

Lovely citrus/passion fruit/mineral nose, beautifully acidic and a long mineral finish - great value.

    Good value

Steely, full-flavoured, with hints of spice. Surprisingly zesty + rich, given the ABV + price. Serve cold as aperitif, or with white meat (rather than fish).

If in doubt - go for this one.

A bit difficult when the 'Misses' likes 'Dandy Lion & Burdock' flavours- whilst I prefer the' Oven Baked Seaweed & crushed Oyster shell flavours! This 'cookie' is the ideal 'middle man' and, will offend no-one - whilst being an ideal compliment to whatever you are eating!

Tastes like tarragon tea with a dash of chewing gum

  • "Delicious, sparky vinho verde with tongue-tingling floral lemon zest and aniseed spiked fruit: the perfect spring aperitif and fish white."

  • "50% Loureiro 50% Pederna. Fragrant, floral aromas with a very clean and crisp, minerally palate. Awesome value for this zinging fresh summery white with pleasingly low alcohol. Score: 88/100"
