This Gran Reserva comes from Bodegas Muriel, an excellent producer located the town of Elciego in the heart of the Rioja-Alavesa sub region. This relatively recently founded estate offers superb value and a classic style of mature Rioja.
Taste
An aromatic explosion of vanilla and spices from the oak blends with mature fruit character and evidence of extended bottle ageing the form of leather and tobacco leaves.
Enjoy
This Rioja is drinking really well now and offers a mature Rioja from a top vintage and producer at a bargain price.

    Very enjoyable

    Delicious at the price. Benefits from decanting a few hours before drinking but wonderfully smooth with hints of vanilla. A bargain.

    A great tasting wine

    I'm usually a white wine drinker but I was given some of this wine for Christmas and i really enjoyed it. Great price for the quality. I've recommended this wine to all my friends and family.

    a good one

    i know 1996 wasn't as good a vintage as 2001 or 2004 but this wine is a cracker, especially, as a previous poster has said, at the buy 2 offer. over xmas i purchased a number of riojas, almost all were really good, this one was splendid.

    Sumptuous

    The description is spot on and this wine punches above it's price tag. Especially at the buy 2 offer. The danger is that I need to go and get the other bottle from the cellar!
