Grape

Grenache, Tempranillo

Origin
Bodegas Ramón Bilbao is situated in a privileged location: Haro, in Rioja Alta, a paradise where Rioja's emblematic grape variety, Tempranillo, grows best. From vines with an average age of 40 years, this concentrated, intense Rioja is a blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha.
Taste
This soft and supple wine is vibrant ruby in colour with aromas of red cherry and blackberry fruit and slight hints of vanilla on the medium bodied palate.
Enjoy
Well structured with a long and pleasant finish which would be ideal with red meat stews and cheeses.

    Fantastic value Rioja

Lovely bright crimson colour. Cherries, touch of tobacco. A bit closed at the outset, but opening up later and showing cloves, blackberries and a little bit of saddle leather on the palate, leading to a finish redolent of figs and dates. Utterly delicious and great value.

    Smooth - a fantastic wine

Superb smooth wine - just great with a wide variety of dishes OR just on its own - highly recommended!

    Great value Rioja

Smooth tasting Rioja and the best offering from this producer. It has been out of stock for a while and I am delighted that it is back!

    Hooray! It's Back!

Love this wine. Such good value - better than a lot of Riojas that cost a lot more (including from the same producer). Good complexity but without overdoing it and getting that slight 'edge' some Riojas can have. Always order it in a case and have missed it for the past couple of months while its not been available.

    Lovely smooth taste

I noticed this wine from a Sunday Times list and although I love Rioja, this one is probably one of the best I've tasted, especially at this Majestic price! Quite a smooth taste for a Rioja which, to me, tastes of very rich fruit!

    Great Value

3.5 stars. This wine has berries galore and finishes with a familiar hug and kiss or a classic Rioja... it is a great value and I am on my second purchase.

Staff Reviews

  • " This wine blends the classy Tempranillo, the sophisticated and complex classic Rioja grape with the soft and luxurious Grenache in equal measure. This provides a modern, easy drinking wine that can be enjoyed on its own but can nevertheless hold its own with all kinds of food, especially roasts and cheeses."
