Grape

Fiano

Origin
Masseria Surani is an estate dating back to the early 1900's, and is located just 6km from the Ionian coast in Apulia, Italy's 'heel'. The Fiano grape is found almost exclusively in southern Italy and Sicily, and is thought to have it origins in ancient Greece.
Taste
A bright lemon colour with a golden tinge. The nose offers an inviting mixture of citrus and tropical fruit with floral hints. Crisp acidity and good palate texture make for a refreshing, satisfying feel.
Enjoy
Drink with a salad, generously dressed with olive oil, anchovies and pine kernels.

Light wine packed with flavour stands up to anchovies!

Very few Italian whites have made me want to go out and buy a case but this was an exception. If you are a Pinot Grigio drinker and want something clean and refreshing but packed with flavour then try this.

A pleasant change from the normal sauvignon blanc

I tried this as I didn't know the grape or wine. Really pleasant change from the normal sauvignon blanc around the same price. Dry, fruity and a pleasant one for when we get some sun!

Very interesting wine, quite a change from Sauvignon Blanc

We were recommended this wine and were not disappointed when we tried it. Light, dry and a good wine as an aperitif or with fish dishes.

    Do not bother

I love Fiano but this was nasty. Go for the better one or buy it somewhere else , it should not have been this astringent

    Very nice

We bought this on the strength of a newspaper review and were not disappointed. Much better than the average Pinot Grigio, if only we could get some more!

    Refreshingly delicious

A clean fresh wine with pleasant fruit aroma's. Perhaps a little more fruit than most Fiano's but remaining crisp. A good value aperitif and very quaffable!

  • A cool and crisp example (2011 Vintage)

"Fiano, perhaps because it's as easy to pronounce as it is to drink, is really taking off in the UK, and here's a cool and crisp example with just a little extra depth of orange citrus tang along with some juicy orchard and apricot fruit. (The Wine Gang, www.thewinegang.com November 2012)"
