Sangiovese

Origin: Castello Banfi is a family owned vineyard estate and winery in the Brunello region of Tuscany. The grapes for this Brunello are sourced from hillside sites with calcareous sandy topsoil and rounded stones.

Taste: A full bodied wine with hints of liquorice and chocolate complements the concentrated, velvety cherry fruits on the palate. Very well integrated tannins and long finish. Enjoy over the next 5 to 10 years.

Enjoy: Ideal partner to a roast garlic and thyme seasoned lamb with braised red cabbage and red wine sauce.

Too young

the 2005 is perfect but I tried this and it is WAY too young and now seen Parker thinks it's too young and Tannic too as a general assessment of Brunello. I think it need few years yet or will disappoint you as it did me.

"This wine has a wonderful deep garnet colour. Aromas of Black Forest gateaux leap from the glass, with hints of licorice, tobacco and sweet forest fruits. There is much more of the same on the palate! Despite its youth, the wine is very soft and approachable with fine and beautifully integrated tannins. This wine delivers on all fronts!"

"Has fabulous aromas of blackberry, black cherry and raspberry. Full-bodied, with wonderfully integrated tannins, fresh mushrooms and milk chocolate. Chewy in the end. We will see if this is better than the 2001 with age. Best after 2010."
