Grape

Syrah or Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvèdre

Origin
The local producers' cooperative in the village of Roquebrun was formed in 1968, and today they enjoy their own sub-appellation of St-Chinian, essentially all to themselves. The wines are made using semi-carbonic maceration, for a freshly aromatic style.
Taste
A deep, lustrous and inky colour, the wine has a nose of crushed red fruit, wild herbs and a hint of smoke. The palate is rich and ripe, with a supple tannic structure and multi-layered texture.
Enjoy
Pair with any hearty and robust dish, such as spicy liver meatballs.

Press Reviews

  • A seductive, sweetly fruited wine (2010 Vintage)

"Almost black in colour, this is a seductive, sweetly fruited wine with a peppery, meaty edge. It’s like drinking chargrilled steak – which would be an ideal food match. (Jamie Goode, Sunday Express – 100 Best Red Wines under £10, 17th March 2013)"

  • A combination of sun-ripened fruit with firm structure (2010 Vintage)

"La Grange des Combes 2010 St Chinian Roquebrune is a combination of sun-ripened fruit with the firm structure and chew of the schists in these dramatic hills. (Jancis Robinson, The Financial Times, 3rd November 2012)"

  • Evocative aromas of blueberries, blackberries, garrigue herbs and woodsmoke (2010 Vintage)

"This lovely St-Chinian, a Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre blend (50:30:20) from the sub-region of Roquebrun, is new to the range. Evocative aromas of blueberries, blackberries, garrigue herbs and woodsmoke – like walking in hills overlooking the Mediterranean – and a silky, supple palate with black peppercorn crunch and fine-grained tannins Rating: 90/100 (The Wine Gang, www.thewinegang.com November 2012)"
